Are you good at spinning plates? It's not something you see very often on TV these days, but figuratively, it is a very useful skill, one of which is vital if your goal is to keep nuclear power stations operating safely, contributing to the UK's Net Zero carbon target, or to help prepare them for decommissioning. The UK's five operating stations deliver 16% of the UK's power, and it takes a large team delivering hundreds of projects to enable these stations to continue generating as well as defuel the three stations that have ceased operation - and that's a lot of plates. This is where you come in. If you're familiar with project delivery, you'll know that they have plenty of moving parts and complexity, which is why you'll be working alongside our Subject Matter Experts, Operations Managers, and our Framework Service team too. People are at the heart of everything we do. Central to the success of the role will be your people skills, building effective relationships, and interacting with multiple internal and external stakeholders in various locations. You'll also work closely with colleagues to support activities that offer the best service to the client. Through your interactions, you'll be able to gather useful intelligence on client needs and work with the team to deliver innovative solutions. You'll utilise your strong communication and engagement skills to achieve client, people, and business outcomes, working with your team and peers based in different locations across the UK. As well as focusing on the support to this framework, you'll get involved in other aspects of our high-performing business. We're continuously evolving and growing the business, so there's plenty of opportunity to evolve and grow your skills and career too. Amentum is expanding and recruiting for a Project Manager to join our Energy Engineering and Technical Services team supporting our projects across the UK. This is a key role within our Project Management team, and you will be a leader while being given the training and opportunities you need to develop and expand your project management and business development capabilities with larger and more complex projects. You will be leading our growing portfolio of site-based design and engineering projects that are being delivered both internally and on behalf of our clients. The successful candidate will be experienced in project delivery, stakeholder management, time, cost and quality control, as well as formal project governance with risk management and change control as standard.
What you'll be doing:
* Managing the successful delivery of projects via our internal teams.
* Overseeing and managing technical delivery of the assigned programmes of work.
* Ensuring Health and Safety requirements are adhered to on your portfolio.
* Tracking and managing the spend on your portfolio of projects.
* Preparation and presentation of monthly progress reports for governance review.
* Monitoring and managing schedule progress and providing key stakeholders with regular updates.
* Driving the delivery of the projects to ensure safe delivery, on time, and meeting business and technical quality requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Degree educated, ideally in an engineering or business management discipline or equivalent.
* APM PMQ or equivalent and proficient in the use of project management tools.
* Previous experience of estimating, cost control, planning, and commercial awareness including the preparation of business cases and sanction/funding papers.
* Good communication, organisational, and team-building skills.
* Knowledge and experience of delivering projects under CDM (desirable).
* Ideally experience in managing and delivering projects in an engineering context, with a good understanding of principles, outcomes, and impacts.
