Directory Entry : Camden 2025 and Our Camden Plan sets out our overall commitment to inclusion in our communities and for the people who work here. This means that we need to ensure everyone is able to be their best self at work: being who they are, being listened to, valued and supported. We offer a range of employment opportunities and routes into Camden targeting groups that may typically face barriers in the labour market.
Camden is building a borough where everyone can thrive, making it the best place to live, work, study, and visit. We are home to the UK’s fast-growing economy and to vital conversations about social and environmental change. Our Climate Action Plan 2020-2025 demonstrates our commitment to tackling the climate emergency by taking bold, collaborative action. As we begin to develop the next Climate Action Plan, we need to accelerate our zero-carbon programme and create innovative, impactful solutions to deliver a sustainable Camden.
What You’ll Be Doing
As the Zero Carbon Programme Lead, you will drive the design, development, and delivery of Camden’s low-carbon investment programme. This includes flagship projects like retrofitting Council-owned buildings, scaling solar energy across schools, and developing new partnerships with community energy groups and the private sector. A key aspect of your role will be managing Camden’s award-winning Somers Town Energy network, including exploring innovative decarbonisation opportunities while maintaining affordability for connected households.
In this role, you will lead on securing funding, managing budgets, and reporting on greenhouse gas emissions. You will collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including Council teams, community groups, and regional partners, to influence policy and deliver innovative projects. With the support of a Zero Carbon Project Officer, you will ensure Camden’s zero-carbon programme achieves tangible outcomes, contributing to our ambition for a zero-carbon borough by 2030.
About You
We are looking for an experienced programme manager with a proven track record of delivering decarbonisation projects. You will have in-depth technical knowledge of low-carbon energy and associated policies, as well as extensive experience in securing and managing budgets up to £10 million. Your ability to build strategic relationships and influence key partners, including the Greater London Authority and community energy groups, will be critical.
Strong leadership and communication skills are essential as you’ll be managing a small team, shaping the direction of Camden’s zero-carbon programme,
