The Hospital Diabetes Foot Team are looking for a Band 6 Podiatrist to work in the Diabetes Foot Clinic and after training, on the wards of Poole Hospital, as well as Community Clinics and patient homes.
This is a 12 month fixed term position based across the UHD Hospital sites and within the Dorset community to cover maternity leave (22.5 hrs per week) until 4 January 2026.
This is a unique opportunity, offering a split role between our Hospital Diabetes Foot service and Community High Risk Podiatry services. This post requires a podiatrist who can demonstrate advanced knowledge and skills in the management of diabetes foot pathology, as well as providing high quality foot care to patients within a community setting. You will be expected to work flexibly and to travel to different clinics and patient homes across the Trust's geographical area.
You will develop your abilities to manage complex diabetes foot disease within a multi-disciplinary environment as well as in community settings. The Team prides itself on developing different ways of working and being at the cutting edge of diabetes foot disease management, but new ideas for service improvement are actively encouraged.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for:
* The assessment, diagnosis, planning and implementation of high-risk podiatric care, including ulcer management, for patients with a wide range of clinical needs.
* Assisting in the provision of a specialist multi-disciplinary hospital based diabetes foot clinic. Providing a high quality, flexible and responsive service.
* Assisting in the provision of a specialist multi-disciplinary ward based diabetes foot service. Providing a high quality, flexible and responsive service.
* Providing education and health promotion to meet the complex needs of diabetes foot conditions to patients and other health professionals.
* Providing a high-quality person-centred approach to care delivery which always considers people's safety, privacy, and dignity.
* Providing specialist advice to other health professionals regarding the management and care of patients.
* Providing supervision, mentorship, training and clinical support to students and trained practitioners.

Person Specification
Knowledge, skills and training
* Professional knowledge of diabetes foot pathology acquired through degree supplemented by postgraduate specialist training.
* Membership of the relevant Professional Body.
Business Travel
* Business Travel with full UK licence and car access.
* Experience of planning and organising activities requiring the formulation and adjustment of plans e.g. organising own time, coordination with other agencies and plans for sudden, unforeseen circumstances.
* To communicate effectively in verbal and written form in the exchange of highly complex, sensitive or contentious information in difficult situations using de-escalation, mediation, resolution and professional Duty of Candour.
* Advance own clinical knowledge, skill and competence based on current evidence.
Job specific experience
* Experience of multi-disciplinary working within diabetes at band 6.
* Able to demonstrate specialist expertise and knowledge underpinned by theory acquired through CPD in relation to clinical assessment, treatment and evaluation.
* Able to demonstrate clinical reasoning skills to assimilate information in order to make a clinical judgement regarding diagnosis and intervention.
* Evidence of involvement in the development of audit.
* Evidence of delivering education and training in practice.
