About the Role:
Islam Channel Urdu is seeking an experienced and passionate TV Chef to join our team for two exciting shows: Brunch Time and Rehmat-e-Ramadan. These shows are an integral part of our programming, showcasing vibrant lifestyle content, engaging conversations, and mouthwatering recipes. The ideal candidate should be an enthusiastic culinary expert, with a passion for sharing knowledge and creating an engaging television experience. Fluency in Urdu is essential for connecting with our audience, discussing ingredients, and engaging with guests.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare and present recipes live on air, focusing on diverse dishes for Brunch Time (Tuesdays & Wednesdays, 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM) and/or Rehmat-e-Ramadan (Monday to Thursday, 12:00 PM – 01:00 PM).
* Showcase a variety of recipes, with a focus on delicious brunch options and authentic Ramadan dishes.
* Demonstrate cooking techniques, ingredient selection, and tips in a simple yet engaging manner, ensuring that the audience can follow along at home.
Guest Interactions:
* Engage with in-studio guests, including Islamic scholars, experts, and influencers during Rehmat-e-Ramadan, providing insights into cooking for Ramadan and cultural practices.
* Create a warm and friendly environment, fostering meaningful conversations around food, culture, and lifestyle.
Show Participation:
* Contribute to the overall flow of both shows, collaborating with the production team to create visually appealing segments.
* Help curate and suggest recipes for both shows that align with the themes and timing of the segments.
* Be proactive in suggesting creative ideas to elevate the cooking segments, keeping them fresh and interesting.
Cultural Relevance:
* For Rehmat-e-Ramadan, ensure that the dishes and content reflect the cultural and spiritual significance of Ramadan.
* Emphasize the importance of healthy eating, special Ramadan treats, and family traditions associated with food during the holy month.
Requirements:
* Fluency in Urdu (both spoken and written) is a must, as the shows are aired in Urdu.
* Proven experience as a TV chef, culinary expert, or food presenter with a portfolio of past TV appearances or cooking segments.
* Strong understanding of Islamic culture, especially regarding Ramadan traditions and recipes.
* Knowledge and experience in preparing a variety of dishes suitable for brunch, as well as traditional Ramadan recipes.
* Ability to create engaging and informative cooking content that resonates with a broad audience.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills, with a warm, approachable demeanor.
* Strong organisational skills, with the ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Information:
* This is a contractor role with flexible working hours, primarily during the scheduled show times.
* The role will involve a mix of live shows, pre-recorded segments, and preparation for each show’s content.
* Previous experience working with a TV production team or media outlet is highly desirable.
