RPS are seeking a Water Quality Sampling Technician to join our growing team. You will be working as an assistant in a 2-person team, collecting samples of wastewater from rivers, commercial premises, wastewater treatment works, and wastewater networks across our clients' catchment. The working hours for this role are 40hrs per week, Monday to Thursday 06:00 – 16:00. The salary for this role is £25,000 per annum. Overtime rates and benefits are available.

What you’ll be doing
This role focuses on collecting samples of wastewater and delivering them to our laboratory for analysis, using refrigerated transport. This very important work supports our client’s decision making related to wastewater treatment processes and pollution prevention. Previous experience is not required as full training will be provided. Successful applicants will be provided with PPE and a company smartphone.
The successful applicant will be expected to work around confined spaces, water courses, and highways.
This is a customer-facing role requiring excellent customer service skills. Applicants must have exceptional organisational skills and be able to work to deadlines. Please note that the work will be outdoors in all weather conditions and will involve the manual handling of manhole chamber covers and other heavy items. Due to the nature of the work, flexibility regarding working hours is essential including early starts and late finishes as required. Overtime rates are paid accordingly.

* Able to work to Risk Assessments and Method Statements provided
* Ability to identify hazards and risks and complete a dynamic risk assessment
* Good organisational and route planning skills
* Demonstrable track record of reliability and flexibility
* Process driven and methodical with a good work ethic
