Development Underwriter - Leigh-On-Sea office - ARD1019338
We’re on the hunt for a talented Development Underwriter to join our growing team in the Geo part of our business. This pivotal role, reporting to our Associate Director, offers the flexibility of being home based. You will be responsible for collaborating with our sales team and brokers to develop and underwrite profitable new business opportunities across our construction portfolio.
So, what does the role of a Development Underwriter here involve?
This is an overview and not an exhaustive list of responsibilities. Collaborating with your line manager, you will develop your own objectives but focus on all of the following:
* Develop new opportunities, both at an individual risk level and more broadly through portfolio and new product line.
* Organise and lead onsite underwriting sessions with brokers.
* Underwrite and administer risks on behalf of Insurers.
* Demonstrate strong trading and negotiation skills in the attainment of new business.
* Achieve a high quality of underwriting and record keeping.
* Achieve any individual targets and contribute towards team and business targets.
* Demonstrate and maintain specialist underwriting knowledge.
* Develop and maintain professional and effective relationships with all key internal and external stakeholders.
What experience does a Development Underwriter need?
* Ideally CII qualified or working towards.
* Proven underwriting experience of construction and commercial lines products.
* Experience of working within an MGA environment and an understanding of the use of binding authority guidelines and authorities would be advantageous.
* A working knowledge of legal and regulatory Insurance framework.
* IT Skills: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point.
