Seeking a part qualified Semi-Senior Accountant for a well-established accountancy practice that is looking to build its specialist medical accounting team with the focus on the medical sector – GPs, medical partnerships, private medical practices etc.

The role offers a varied mix off work from accounts, tax and pensions within the context of the medical sector, which is constantly changing offering opportunities for career growth and progression. Because medical accounting is so specialist, the firm will train the successful candidate appropriately. Any previous medical finance experience is an advantage.
As Semi-Senior Accountant, your responsibilities will include:
* Accounts preparation for client types up to and including larger sole traders, partnerships and limited companies for senior or manager review and deal directly with clients to clarify outstanding matters
* Assist/oversee trainees with their accounts preparation work - ensure that trainees’ and juniors’ work is reviewed thoroughly and passed back where required
* Ensure accurate notes are provided to assist the Senior
* Import draft figures to IRIS accounts production from the working papers and produce draft accounts for the file
* Assist trainees and junior team members with preparing any finalised pack, reviewing all documents for completeness and accuracy and resolving any issues before passing up to the Senior/Manager
* Assist seniors/managers with preparing necessary files/documents for client meetings
* Involvement in taxation work including corporate tax, personal tax, P11Ds, VAT, ATED, CGT, IHT and HMRC tax enquiries

* Ideally be ACA part qualified – part qualified ACCA considered but ICAEW preferred
* Have at least three years’ experience gained within a UK accountancy practice environment
* Good general IT skills; MS Office, Xero, Sage – experience of QuickBooks, Online cloud accounting, Autoentry/ HubDoc, IRIS, Virtual Cabinet and Practice Engine would be an advantage
* Organised with good time management skills
* Excellent communication skills
Some awareness and knowledge of medical finance areas would be an advantage, including NHS pension scheme, the GMS contract and NHS funding streams, PCSE Online and dealing with PCSE queries and PCN accounts.
