The post holder is responsible for providinga range of personal care duties to Service Users within the base ofcommunity setting and for contributing to care planning processesthrough observation communication and liaison with service usersrelatives their staff and agencies ensuring confidentiality at alltimes.
As an effective and flexible member ofthe team and working closely with other Care Workers Team Leadersand Managers the post holder will be expected to work an agreedprogramme of work with minimum supervision and be able to takeappropriate action in the event of an emergency.
The post holder will be expected to work to standardswhich equate to Diploma Level 2 Care.
KeyResponsibilities:
1. To undertake personal tasks as described in the Care Planincluding washing dressing and assistance with mobility whilstrespecting the individuals privacy and dignity.
2. To use any equipment as directed by the Care Plan onceappropriate training has taken place hoisting VNS Moving &Handling.
3. To contribute verbally to theassessment planning implementation and review of Care Plans thismay include liaising with other professionals andcarers.
4. To observe and accurately communicatechanges in the service users needs and record accurately in runningrecords in accordance with the written records policy.
5. To assist service users to engage in a range of in houseand community based activities in line with their individual careplans and risk assessments.
6. To attend staffmeetings receive supervision and training and otherwise contributeto the efficiency of the service service user file management andliaise with carers.
7. A working knowledge andunderstanding of the MCA/DOLs and the impact of this in residentialcare setting.
8. To actively promote service userinvolvement and empowerment and individuals rights to choice andinclusion.
9. To respond appropriately to crisisand emergency situations as they arise and report these to the teamleader/senior care staff.
10. To act at all timesin line with the department budgetary and financialguidelines.
11. Undertake tasks of a domesticnature in order to ensure a clean and tidy environment.
12. To undertake any other duties which may reasonably beregarded as within the nature of the duties andresponsibilities/grade of the post as defined subject to theproviso that normally changes of a permanent nature shall beincorporated into the Job Description in specificterms.
