Position:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Pharmacist based across University Hospital Ayr and University Hospital Crosshouse .
What you will do:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly motivated Pharmacist to lead and manage the clinical pharmacy team across acute hospital sites. The post holder will be responsible for the strategic planning and delivery of clinical pharmacy services across NHS Ayrshire & Arran ensuring compliance with the relevant legislation and standards, as part of the Principal Pharmacist Clinical Services Team.
This post will be strategically aligned to the Womens & Childrens directorate including Paediatrics, Neonatal and Womens Health. The Principal Pharmacist Clinical Services will promote strong clinical governance links and enable collaborative working with the directorate senior leadership team. The post-holder will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating clinical pharmacy service provision and performance using this evaluation as a basis for improvement and development.
The ideal candidate shall therefore demonstrate a passion for leadership, innovation and possess excellent communication skills.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:
1. Relevant clinical pharmacy and/or pharmacy practice experience.
2. Demonstrable evidence of experience in service delivery & development and the ability to examine current practice and develop and implement innovative solutions for improvement.
3. Undertaking adverse event investigations and risk assessment.
4. Financial reporting.
5. Developing and implementing procedures, policies and guidelines.
6. Experience in teaching, education and training.
7. Experience of supervising pharmacists/ technicians undertaking further qualifications.
8. Required to demonstrate an advanced level of knowledge about medicines legislation and practice.
9. Required to demonstrate an expert level of knowledge, skills, clinical reasoning and judgement regarding pharmacy practice.

Hours:
18.5 hours per week
The post holder will participate in weekend, public holiday and extended hours as required. In accordance with AFC terms and conditions there is a requirement to work over 7 days and/or an extended working day. The post has a dual base (University Hospital Crosshouse & Ayr) with an area-wide remit therefore travel to other hospital sites is required.
Driving Licence/Car Ownership:
A car licence/car ownership is essential to this role.
