Job Description:
Applications are invited for individuals to join the Scottish Ambulance Service as a Qualified or Trainee Ambulance Care Assistant (ACA) at stations in the North Region, including Elgin, Fraserburgh, Aviemore, Golspie, and Wick.
The expected start date for trainees is November 2025. Qualified applicants' start dates depend on experience and will be agreed upon offer.
The Role
As an ACA, responsibilities include delivering high-quality care and safe transportation for non-emergency patients from their homes to hospital or clinics. The role involves various shift times over 7 days and may require working at different stations. Positions are available as part-time and full-time.
You need excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be a team player, and handle interactions with vulnerable individuals. This role is vital within the Service, providing essential services to the people of Scotland.
The Training
Trainees will be employees from the start and enrolled in a bespoke clinical and driving program lasting approximately 6 months, beginning with four weeks at a Regional Training Centre before progressing to their assigned station.
Qualified applicants' experience requirements depend on their background.
The Person
This varied role demands excellent interpersonal and communication skills, flexibility, and the ability to make safe, effective decisions. Experience in healthcare or related qualifications is advantageous, as is volunteer or community work.
Minimum entry requirements include:
* Evidence of successful study at SCQF Level 4 or above in Maths and English
* Full UK driving licence with no more than 4 penalty points
Candidates must possess C1 on their driving licence at least 6 weeks before the course start date. Shortlisted candidates will need to bring original and copies of relevant documents for assessments.

The salary for Trainee Care Assistants starts at £21,748, rising to £26,869 after training, with increments up to £28,998.
Interview and fitness test dates are scheduled at various locations in June and July 2025. Details will be provided to shortlisted candidates.
