About the role: As a Special Needs Care Worker, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Disabilities (SEND) receive the personalised care, guidance and encouragement they need to flourish. Working closely with teachers, therapists and support staff, you will contribute to creating a safe and enriching learning environment where every child can thrive. Essential Qualities That We Are Looking For: Provide one-to-one and group support to students with complex needs, including ASD, ADHD, PMLD and SEMH challenges. Assist pupils with personal care, mobility and daily routines while promoting independence. Support students in accessing tailored learning activities, using individualised education plans (IEPs). Foster a nurturing and inclusive environment, encouraging positive social interactions and emotional wellbeing. Implement behaviour management strategies in line with the school's policies to support students' development and engagement. Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists and SENCOs to deliver holistic and person-centred support. Monitor student progress and wellbeing, providing regular feedback to the educational team and parents/carers. The Successful Candidate Will: Prior experience as a Special Needs Care Worker, SEN Teaching Assistant, or Support Worker is advantageous. A qualification in Health & Social Care, Childcare, SEN Support, or a related field is desirable. Understanding of safeguarding procedures and special educational needs. Demonstrate a strong understanding of various SEN, such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, or physical disabilities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff and families. A patient, empathetic and adaptable approach to working with children with complex needs. Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the best outcomes for students.
