Are you an outstanding and experienced Teacher of the Deaf, looking for a new adventure in the Channel Islands. Hearing is a peripatetic service which works closely with parents, class teachers, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and the audiology department (MSG) to support deaf learners access learning and acquire age-appropriate skills.The main purpose of the role is to manage the service and develop its strategic role within Education Inclusion and to ensure the work of the service supports the aims and objectives of the Education Strategy. This role comes with a competitive salary, progressive annual leave and entitlement to a pension scheme. If you need to relocate there is also a generous relocation package to help with the cost of moving over to the Island. This relocation package offers different solutions depending on an individual’s circumstances. The role can offer off-Island candidates an 8-year Long Term Employment Permit and will also enable candidates to bring immediate family members with them who will also be permitted to work on the Island in any sector. Benefits: MPS £37,680 - £53,857 or UPS £56,847 - £60,430 per annum Management Allowance of £6,475 SEN Allowance (rate not yet confirmed but at least £2153) Up to 4 years support with renting (up to 50%) Relocation allowance of up to £5k A dedicated consultant to support your application and journey Skills and requirements: Qualified Teacher of the Deaf Level 2 BSL To have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the main strategies for supporting deaf pupils, including current experience of: Working with deaf learners in a variety of settings. Proficiency using specialist equipment for support of deaf pupils. Understanding of Expanded Core Curriculum and strategies for infusing opportunities to embed these skills into the school curriculum, particularly mobility skills. An inspirational, motivated teacher with strong classroom management skills Ability to lead and work as a team, and to advise on and encourage the professional development of staff.
