Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the Inpatient Surgical & Respiratory Therapy Team within an acute NHS medical setting. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality therapy services to patients with surgical and respiratory conditions, supporting their recovery and promoting independence during their inpatient stay.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver comprehensive assessments and treatment plans for patients within the acute surgical and respiratory wards
* Provide goal-oriented, evidence-based interventions tailored to individual patient needs
* Facilitate safe and effective discharge planning in collaboration with the wider multidisciplinary team
* Monitor and evaluate patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary
* Work closely with physiotherapists, nurses, consultants, and discharge coordinators to ensure integrated care
* Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in line with NHS standards
* Contribute to service development, audits, and quality improvement initiatives
* Support junior staff and students through supervision and guidance where appropriate
Key Requirements:
* HCPC registered Occupational Therapist
* Minimum of 6 months NHS experience
* Proven experience working in an acute inpatient setting, preferably within surgical or respiratory teams
* Strong clinical reasoning, assessment, and treatment planning skills
* Excellent communication and teamworking abilities
* Confident in managing a varied caseload in a fast-paced hospital environment
* Committed to ongoing professional development
