Our Pathology service covers a range of disciplines, providing 11 million test results per annum in Blood sciences (haematology, transfusion, biochemistry, immunology) and cellular sciences (microbiology, cellular pathology, and mortuary). We are proud to promote career development pathways throughout the team, at all levels. An exciting opportunity has arisen for one new post within our pathology team. We are looking for one highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to assist the Quality Manager in preparing data for reports and meetings to allow teams to perform trend analysis of incidents and organize pathology meetings.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will assist the Quality Manager and Pathology departments with the implementation, management, and maintenance of the Quality Management System for Pathology services, ensuring specific standards are met such as United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS), Human Tissue Authority (HTA), Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Authority (MHRA), ISO standards 15189 and 9001.
The successful candidate will support staff at all AfC grades with maintenance of accreditation, internal and external quality assessment, record keeping, data analysis, audit, data input, production of reports, and training and administration activities associated with the Quality management system (Qpulse) for all departments.
You must have an understanding of Pathology laboratory information systems and support document control and non-conformity reporting for these systems, and have an understanding of how these systems integrate into Trust IT systems.
The successful candidate must be able to travel independently to support cross-site working across Durham and Darlington.

Job responsibilities
A member of the Pathology department working as part of the Quality team, providing support to all disciplines to support maintenance and achievement of regulatory standards. This support involves internal and external quality assessment, record keeping, data analysis, audit, data input, production of reports, and training and administration activities associated with the Quality management system (Qpulse) for all departments.
Directed by the Pathology Quality Manager, the post holder will assist the departments through the duties outlined. They will be expected to work to the departmental standard operating procedure and policies.
The role will involve training of Pathology staff at various levels/grades and the post holder will be expected to work autonomously with direction from the Quality Manager.

* Previous NHS laboratory experience

Qualifications
* Good standard of general education minimum of 3 GCSEs or equivalent at Grade C or above including English
* Educated to at least NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration (or working towards) or equivalent knowledge/experience
* NVQ 2 CLS or equivalent
* Science and/or maths GCSE Grade C or above
* IBMS Certificate of Achievement Part 1
