The Shared Procurement Service provides a combined procurement service to both Richmond and Wandsworth Councils. The Councils operate a fully centralised procurement service with an established team of procurement professionals.
The next 18 months will be a very exciting and rewarding period as we continue to embed the outcome of a consultancy-led review into our procurement operations, which has resulted in a restructure within the team. We’ve established a new Policy, Governance and Social Value team, reconfigured the existing Category teams, and established a new Transactional Procurement team. We’ve also made significant investments in software to support the end-to-end commissioning, procurement, and contract management cycle, as well as the new Procurement Act due to come into force later in 2024.
The soon-to-be vacant post of Category Specialist (People) is responsible for procurement within the social care area supporting commissioners in Adults and Children, but also taking the lead for the majority of activity within the voluntary and community sector. The successful candidate will manage a well-established team of procurement professionals, working closely with commissioners within that area of spend.
The successful candidate will have:
* A demonstrable track record of success within a comparable sized organisation, preferably in the peoples category.
* A detailed knowledge and experience of the Procurement Act 2023 and the forthcoming changes to Procurement post February 2025.
* Knowledge of current best practice procurement as it relates to public sector procurement.
* Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
* Willing and able to attend in person our primary office in Wandsworth town centre at least two days per week.
Candidates invited for interview must demonstrate, in both the application for interview (the covering statement) and any subsequent interview, how they meet and indeed, surpass, the above 5 key points.
