Domestic Housekeeping Assistant
Summary of Responsibilities:
Provide a cleaning service in a variety of settings. Working under the guidance of the Housekeeping Supervisor, follow established operating procedures to support the overall appearance, hygiene and efficiency of the Hospital environment, using own initiative within limits of responsibility as required.
Location: Isle Wight (and surrounding sites)
Start date: ASAP
Temporary: Expected to be ongoing
Hours / days: 5 days across Monday-Sunday shifts between 7am - 7pm
Pay depending on shift partner:
Monday-Friday: £12.82 per hour PAYE inclusive of holiday pay
Saturdays: £14.89 per hour PAYE inclusive of holiday pay
Sundays: £16.10 per hour PAYE inclusive of holiday pay
Main Duties:
To assist in achieving and maintaining the whole hospital environment in accordance with the standards laid down in the Cleaner Hospitals guidelines.
To assist in achieving and maintaining the whole hospital environment in accordance with the standards laid down by Infection Control.
To respond positively to the standard required by patients, staff and visitors above and beyond the minimum laid down in the National Cleaning Standards 2021.
On a daily basis:
replenish stocks ensuring that stock rotation procedures are followed.
empty waste bins
clean toilets, basins, mirrors, toilet brush holders, and floor
damp dust toilet cubicles ensuring area is cleaned form ceiling to floor, fixtures and fittings.
mop all hard floor areas. In severe weather this may be required more frequently, or if requested to do so by clinical/nonclinical staff
ensure linen rooms are kept clean and tidy.
ensure all clinical and domestic waste is removed from all areas replacing bins bags and cleaning bins as appropriate.
thoroughly clean office areas undertaking spot checks, revisiting areas, and responding to FR level as appropriate.
clean internal glass periodically throughout the day
On a weekly basis ensure
all fixtures and fittings are damp dusted in all areas.
All furniture is moved and deep cleaned as necessary.
On a monthly basis
ensure all arrears are high dusted.
ensure the safety of others by using the correct signage and cordoning off areas, whilst ensuring that the withdrawal of amenities is prevented.
ensure chemicals are only used in accordance with the directions for use and COSHH data sheets, in well-ventilated areas. Ensuring that COSHH data sheets are up to date.
Chemicals are kept locked when not in use.
equipment is cleaned at frequent intervals throughout the shift.
equipment faults are reported.
infection prevention and control procedures are adhered to at all times to ensure that cross contamination does not occur by abiding by the colour coding policy.
keys are signed in and out.
refuse and glass are disposed of in the correct receptacles.
all equipment is used in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
risk assessments are undertaken for all manual handling tasks in accordance with Trust policy.
ensure all records are maintained in relation to patients’ property to ensure that it is kept safe
replacement stock is ordered electronically by supervisor.
carry out and complete all Departmental recording procedures.
use personal judgement and guidance from clinical staff to ensure patient areas are cleaned at times which cause minimum disruption to the provision of patient care.
