Purpose of role
Embedded Software Engineers are responsible for the architecture, design, implementation, test, and maintenance of the software for the management and control of ALL.SPACE’s terminal products. This includes embedded terminal application features, web interfaces, and REST API interfaces. The software engineer will work as part of an Agile development team delivering features that meet product requirements.
ROLES and RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Understand the functionality required via requirements and stakeholder interactions.
2. Architecture, design, implementation, and testing of software features in an embedded real-time systems environment developed in C++.
3. Implement automated unit and integration tests.
4. Test and debug functionality in simulation and on target hardware.
5. Employ design patterns and practices to ensure appropriate quality, security, modifiability, and extensibility.
6. Work within the team’s Agile framework, contributing to best practice.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
1. Experienced in C++ development on embedded systems.
2. Demonstrated success in delivery of reliable, real-time embedded functionality.
3. Full lifecycle development experience – design, develop, test, maintain.
4. Experience of Linux and FreeRTOS operating system competence.
5. Delivery of functionality that balances performance against maintainability.
6. Understanding of Source Code Management (git) and CI/CD pipelines.
7. Generation of appropriate documentation (Jira, Confluence).
8. Perform peer reviews and tests of other developers’ work.
9. Effective collaboration in a high-pace agile team.
10. Good self-organizational skills and attention to detail.
11. Problem-solver and collaborative team member.
