Role Overview
We are looking for a professional with a foundation in electrical engineering to oversee and enhance the performance of our renewable energy portfolio. The successful candidate will combine technical expertise, operational insight, and stakeholder management skills to ensure that solar and energy storage assets achieve peak performance, remain compliant with all applicable regulations, and meet contractual obligations. We will provide comprehensive training on our asset management processes and are keen to recruit ambitious individuals who wish to develop their skills and grow with the business.
Key Responsibilities
Asset Performance Optimisation:
* Identify and resolve performance issues limiting asset output or reliability.
* Support strategic initiatives and technical improvements to maximise system efficiency and long-term performance.
Data Analysis and Validation:
* Analyse and interpret performance data from solar assets using our in-house software platform, ensuring accurate readings and reliable KPI reporting.
* Validate operational data against benchmarks and highlight performance trends or anomalies.
* Contribute to the development and refinement of internal tools and processes to enhance data reporting and analysis.
Stakeholder Management:
* Develop strong client relationships, providing performance updates and proactively addressing concerns.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams (finance, software, and commercial) to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
* Support the procurement process and negotiate proposals with service providers and contractors as needed.
O&M and EPC Contractor Management:
* Work closely with EPC and O&M contractors to address technical issues promptly and implement preventative maintenance measures.
* Prepare detailed O&M reports covering operational issues and presenting performance insights and recommendations.
Technical Due Diligence:
* Review technical documentation, system designs, and operational reports to identify potential technical risks.
* Assess warranties, equipment lifecycle considerations, and overall asset quality.
* Conduct detailed site inspections and audits to ensure compliance and performance standards are met.
Compliance and Documentation:
* Ensure adherence to all relevant regulations, standards, and compliance requirements (in particular, safety regulations).
* Maintain accurate records of project details, contracts, certifications, and other essential documentation.
Essential Skills and Attributes:
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
* Experience and a proven track record in client-facing roles.
* Proven ability to manage and deliver multiple programmes and projects on time and on budget.
* Strong interpersonal skills, able to build and maintain professional stakeholder relationships and translate technical issues for non-technical stakeholders.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills.
* Analytical, detail-oriented, and committed to exceeding high standards.
* Resilient and resourceful, capable of performing efficiently under pressure.
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Desirable Skills and Attributes:
* Prior experience in solar PV O&M across residential, commercial, or utility-scale projects.
* Experience in a technical asset management setting at an EPC/O&M, technical advisory, or asset management organisation.
* Experience with behind-the-meter rooftop solar PV projects, including metering configurations and data validation.
* Comprehensive understanding of solar PV technical design.
* Solid understanding of renewable energy regulations, grid interconnection requirements, and relevant safety standards.
* Knowledge of the UK electricity market, including subsidy mechanisms and administrative procedures.
* Advanced coding skillset in Python or SQL.
