This is an exciting new role for Retrieve, an opportunity for a forward-thinking, organised and committed individual to join our passionate team.
There is a full-time role available at each Retrieve base location, in the Peninsula region, based in Launceston, Cornwall, PL15 9JD. In Severn region, based in Bradley Stoke, Bristol BS32 4QA.
The Band 7 Senior Transfer Practitioner (Senior TP) is accountable and responsible for the delivery and management of a Retrieve sub-regional base. They will promote and monitor safe and effective practice, enhance the patient experience, and provide effective leadership and management contributing to the delivery of the service.
The Senior Transfer Practitioner will:
1. Deputise and support the Lead Nurse.
2. Be responsible for professional day-to-day clinical leadership and operational management of their base, working with the other base Senior Transfer Practitioner to ensure effective running of the service.
3. Act as a leader and role model, adopting a flexible approach in a role which encompasses leadership, management, and clinical responsibilities.
4. Promote and monitor a safe work environment.
5. Be responsible for the implementation of audit, quality, and risk management initiatives in the service.
There will be an expectation to continue to further develop clinical skills and continue in a clinical role for 50% of their time.
Main duties of the job
A Senior Transfer Practitioner would be expected to act as a role model, demonstrating strong leadership skills and deputising for the Lead Nurse as required. They would be accountable for overseeing the rota, managing staff contracted hours, and implementing and monitoring audit and quality initiatives.

Working closely with the Retrieve Leadership Team, including leads for Governance, Audit and Research, as well as the education team.
The Senior TP will play a vital role in the development, improvement, management, and promotion of the service, delivering high-quality critical care in transfer across the south west.
Working collaboratively with the multi-professional team, the Senior TP will act as a professional role model, setting standards of practice and promoting clinical effectiveness.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Experience
* Significant recent operational experience in the specialty of Intensive Care.
* Recent relevant experience with intra-hospital and inter-hospital transfer.
* Previous experience of change management and problem-solving.
* Evidence of post-graduate specialist training to master's level or equivalent.
* ALS provider.
* Ability to lead and manage a team.
* Understanding of the principles and application of effective staff and HR management/appraisals.
* Understanding the theory and application of clinical governance.
* Ability to act as a role model, providing excellent patient care and promoting a culture where staff feel valued.
* Previous experience of ensuring a safe environment.
* Understanding of the principles and application of effective budgetary management.
* Portfolio of evidence showing achievements in practice/speciality.
* Leadership Program or equivalent.
* Evidence of presentations at local and regional level.
* Significant and recent operational experience in a regional critical care transfer service.
IM&T
* Competent in the use of IT packages such as Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
* Competent to utilise medical databases and search engines to access current evidence and literature.
* Good knowledge of ARCEMS or willingness to learn ARCEMS, Retrieve's electronic patient record system.

Qualifications and Training
* Current NMC Registration.
* Degree or equivalent qualification in nursing.
* Evidence of master's level academic study or willingness to work towards a Master's (in relevant health-related subject).
* Completion of Step 1-3 competencies or equivalent experience in critical care.
* Qualification in Teaching, Assessing, and Mentoring.
* Completion of Step 4 in critical care competencies.
