The purpose of this role is to develop regional procurement strategies and execution plans for our Ingredients category. With the aim to deliver improved value in financial and non-financial areas. These include material purchase value, risk reduction, quality and service. You will also develop and deliver a procurement plan that meets or exceeds targets and expectations. Using your strong leadership and communications skills, you will ensure that cross-functional business opportunities are actively embraced. Main Accountabilities Develop category and strategic sourcing strategies and plans to support Global Procurement and the business Own and manage all regional category spend for the category (circa $50m) and successfully manage supplier relationships Analyse market fundamentals and data trends resulting in you providing the best possible purchase recommendations in a highly competitive commodity driven market Lead the raw material exchanges across EMEA region Develop and manage supplier KPI metrics Create pricing forecasts and strategies which provide greater visibility to the business Develop influential and positive stakeholder relationships across the Tate & Lyle group to ensure stakeholder buy-in Build strong category knowledge along with a understanding of regional market dynamics Present market trends to Key Stakeholders, informing commercial of market dynamics Challenge business requirements and specifications to deliver efficiencies / consolidation Collaborate with Business, Manufacturing and Technical management to ensure common understanding of requirements in addition to the alignment of procurement approach Drive forward innovation and continuous improvement within the supply chain (where Tate and Lyle is the customer of choice) A role model within the organisation and the wider Ingredients market, creating a culture of honesty, integrity and trust Effectively and efficiently establish business needs, matching innovative solutions to meet those needs Performance Measures Quality and success of category plans Timeliness and accuracy of procurement plans Cost savings Productivity Plan and raw material exchange Development of a robust savings opportunity pipeline PPV – managing cost and highlighting potential price movements Improve WAPT (Payment Terms) Delivery of Quarterly Market Updates Highlighting areas of risk – implementing actions to reduce this Consolidation of materials, identifying areas to efficiencies Supplier Performance Supplier Safety Performance Other performance measures as defined in your appraisal Skills and Experience Strong track record in strategic procurement and category management with an emphasis on solution benefit, meeting challenging targets and successfully delivering business needs Expert knowledge of commodity-based materials including eggs, dairy, starch, carrageenan, pectin, guar gum, locust bean gum, emulsifiers, cocoa, gelatin, cellulose, cocoa, xanthan gum, agar-agar & sugar more Proven expertise in sourcing speciality food ingredients as a Category Manager in an MRP driven environment Evidence of acting as a trusted partner in a fast paced blue chip organisation, forging strong relationships with our suppliers Well-developed commercial mind-set and supplier market knowledge Evidence of using market insights to influence decisions and drive change Experience of leading cross functional teams through influence and credibility to deliver results Understanding of and ability to successfully develop and manage stakeholder relationships Proven track record of strategic procurement and category management with small, medium and large organisations and in a variety of cultures, ideally with global exposure within the category Outcomes oriented individual with a proven track record of delivering savings targets by developing first class stakeholder relationships both within the organisation and the supplier market Strong track record of working successfully in cross functional teams to serve business needs, developing a compelling selling proposition, and negotiating to win-win contract closure Experience successfully managing, maintaining and increasing a portfolio of $20mm over time Strong analytical and mathematical skills First class written and verbal communication skills Well-developed all-round presentation skills A professional procurement qualification through a recognised professional body A degree or equivalent, preferably in a Business or Technical discipline Solid understanding of the buying cycle and using this knowledge for every client interaction to deliver against client expectation Experience in wider related business activity is beneficial Systems experience within an SAP environment is advantageous PC literate including MS office suite of programmes Experience in and good understanding of risk management tools and techniques Willingness to travel both domestic and international to support category and business unit requirements.
