Job summary This is an exciting opportunity for a Upper Gastrointestinal (UGI) Clinical Nurse Specialist position. As an Upper Gastrointestinal (UGI)/HPB Clinical Nurse Specialist you will become an integral part of our workforce and form part of our vision for achieving excellence, working alongside other UGI CNS across sites at MFT. The post holder will provide expertise care and advice management, be motivated, enthusiastic and willing to work as part of the UGI nursing service to deliver specialist nursing care for patients diagnosed with UGI cancer through treatment and follow up. The successful candidate will work autonomously to review referrals, select appropriate investigations and manage results, with the support of medical colleagues. You will have extensive experience as a band 6 UGI experience and demonstrate effective leadership. The Service is based across 4 hospitals in Greater Manchester, this post will be based at Wythenshawe Hospital but will may require cross site working. Main duties of the job The ideal candidate will possesses excellent communication skills and have an ability to deal with service users and clinicians over the phone and in person in a polite and compassionate manner. You will liaise with all members of the MDT, to facilitate the teaching of ward staff, patients, families and carers of all aspects of UGI/HPB disease. You will also be expected in conjunction with the audit team to record data, compile results and present them to relevant members of the MDT.
