About the Role
We are looking for a tax specialist to manage the UK tax team and to lead on corporation tax reporting matters (IFRS, UK GAAP and Solvency II) and other areas within the team’s remit (in particular, Pillar 2, VAT, transfer pricing and general advisory matters). While we are looking for somebody with technical expertise in tax reporting, you do not need to be a technical expert in indirect tax matters – rather, to have the confidence to get to the bottom of why things are as they are and to ask questions. This would be an exciting role for a corporate tax reporting specialist looking for more breadth in their next role.
We are looking for somebody with the energy and enthusiasm to drive project work forward, to manage our relationship with HMRC proactively and transparently, and to represent the tax function and to take ownership of the work the team produces in front of senior stakeholders.
What You’ll Do
* Lead tax reporting (IFRS, UK GAAP, Solvency II) for several key re/insurance entities and service companies
* Act as the key point of contact between the UK tax team, the financial & regulatory reporting teams, and Group Tax in Munich
* Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across the business, providing practical, clear, and commercially relevant tax advice
* Manage external advisers and advisory budgets across projects, ad hoc work, and the UK corporation tax compliance cycle
* Oversight/sign-off of UK VAT compliance and UK IPT compliance
* Collaborate with wider UK Finance teams to support quarter-end closing, improve processes, and strengthen financial controls
* Proactively manage our relationship with HMRC with transparency and professionalism
* Take ownership of the work delivered by the UK tax team, ensuring quality, clarity, and consistency
What We’re Looking For
* A qualified accountant with post-qualification experience in an in-house tax role
* Hands-on experience in IFRS and UK GAAP (or equivalent) tax accounting
* Strong communication skills – able to explain complex tax issues clearly to a range of audiences
* Strategic thinker who can also deliver at pace and manage complexity with confidence
* Comfortable managing multiple priorities while maintaining a strong attention to detail
* An inclusive leader who supports team development, welcomes different perspectives, and creates an environment where people thrive
* Knowledge of UK corporation tax and a genuine interest in developing your understanding of VAT and IPT
* Candidates with strong technical knowledge of a non-UK tax regime and an interest in UK tax are also encouraged to apply
* Experience or interest in the financial services sector
Regulatory & Conduct Requirements:
* Satisfying all regulatory reporting requirements in collaboration with the reporting function
* Liaising with all relevant regulatory bodies in the UK, creating a highly credible reputation and strong, collaborative relationship
* Ensuring compliance with Munich Re’s Code of Conduct and the FCA Conduct Rules
You will be rewarded with a great compensation package, on target bonus, 25 days annual leave with the option to purchase more along with private medical insurance and employers' contributory pension of 10%
We are one of the few employers to offer fully paid 6months family leave for times when you need it the most.
