The Opportunity: Avantor is looking for an Internal Lab Consumables Product Sales Specialist to join our newly established team The Internal Lab Consumables Product Sales Specialist is responsible for achieving sales revenue and profit, and supporting the field-based sales team in achieving those targets, for the VWR UK Lab Consumables business. A specialist point of contact for Lab Consumables products for the sales team, our customers, and our suppliers, to enable us collectively to provide an excellent technical response to our customer enquiries, and in turn to increase customer satisfaction, sales, and profitability. MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Consistently achieve sales and margin for our Lab Consumables portfolio Work towards individual and team daily performance metrics Proactive selling of the product ranges including cross-selling other products and services Provide technical product support to customers and colleagues to enable lead qualification Create, negotiate, follow up, and close quotations Correspond with customers by email, phone, and Teams meetings as required Source new products and create those articles in our SAP ERP system Participate in tenders, and large product lists for quotation to find products and answer technical requirements Establish relationships with suppliers to achieve the best technical and price support Provide the Manager with up-to-date reports on all activities and issues Process sample requests Support requests for demonstrations Send out catalogues, brochures, and promotions Liaise with local, European, and Global counterparts within the portfolio, marketing, sourcing, and procurement teams Participate in supplier training and meetings, demonstrating a hunger for thorough and accurate technical information. Support the sales teams with marketing campaigns Monitor competitors and market trends and build market expert market intelligence for the Lab Consumables portfolio Participate in customer visits, exhibitions, events, and other marketing activities if and when required Support your manager in developing sales forecasts for your portfolio of products as and when required Updating all relevant customer interactions on our CRM system Regular communication with the local sales organization, highlighting the performance of the product portfolio, and encouraging lead generation. In conjunction with Manager sets own goals and takes ownership of those goals as part of the annual performance review Performs other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS (Education/Training, Experience & Certifications) Degree level qualification essential (Science and/or Business discipline) Laboratory experience desirable Previous external/internal sales experience is preferred but not essential A proven track record in achieving targets is preferred but not essential KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Those necessary to perform the job competently) Good product knowledge, ability to learn quickly and maintain updated knowledge of products and market Self-motivated, focused & driven individual who can handle rejection positively Strong negotiation skills Strong commercial understanding and knowledge of the market, the competition within, and pricing and discount structures Passion for liaising with internal and external customers and suppliers/manufacturers, a strong team player In-depth knowledge of procurement, both strategically and operationally, sourcing, market analysis, cost analysis, contract negotiation, and supplier performance level service agreements/performance metrics Keen awareness of profitability metrics and steps to maximise the same Excellent time management and multi-tasking capabilities Self-starter, proactive individual, works on their own initiative with minimal supervision Confident in own decision-making abilities Excellent written and verbal communication skills Team player, can deputize for colleagues when required Experience of MS Office applications essential, especially proficiency in Excel. Experience of SAP, CRM systems, and Business Intelligence systems desirable.
