Job Purpose
* To undertake industrial cleaning of water and wastewater assets to deliver planned programmes of work and respond reactively to work requests and incidents.
* To ensure HGVs (i.e., Jetvacs) as well as support vans are suitable for driving (fit for purpose) and are kept cleaned & maintained with all defects logged and reported to the Vactor Office and Fleet, as required.
* To drive and operate Jetvac units (HGV) from designated base locations to a variety of operational sites across United Utilities.
* To liaise with site Process Controllers and Field Service Engineers to gain site-specific knowledge of the assets to be serviced, prior to work commencing.
* To complete appropriate H&S documentation (e.g., Working at Height Risk Assessment forms, Confined Space Entry forms).
* To carry out complex, potentially high-risk industrial cleaning activities.
* To assess the job to be carried out, determining the best working method to deliver the job effectively and safely.
* To complete appropriate documentation for the work (either electronic or physical paperwork).
* Liaising with a variety of internal departments and external contractors in order to progress work on sites safely and efficiently.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
* Responsible for driving and operating Jetvac units that are mobile plant & equipment worth in the region of £500,000.
* To ensure the Jetvac units as well as any support vans are suitable for driving (i.e., fit for purpose) and are kept clean & maintained with all defects logged and reported to the Vactor Office and Fleet.
* To operate and drive Jetvac units (HGVs) – therefore there are responsibilities regarding the upkeep & inspection of the vehicle.
* To undertake industrial cleaning of water and wastewater assets to deliver planned programmes of work and respond reactively to work requests and incidents.
* To perform confined space entries on a daily basis including complex entries up to NC4 level.
* To undertake hazardous work activities whilst in a confined space.
* To perform the duty of “top-man” on confined space entries when not undertaking the entry themselves.
* To be familiar with and be competent in the safe operation of various equipment.
* Dispose of Wastewater and other Wastes arising from jobs appropriately and safely.
* Respond to high priority and escalated operational issues in order to perform industrial cleaning activity.
Responsible for undertaking work safely and in adherence with company policies and procedures under challenging operating environments.
Technical Skills & Experience
* Trained in safe operation of Jet vac combination units
* Knowledge of Wastewater Processes
* Knowledge of Wastewater Network
* Knowledge of Water Treatment
* Water hygiene card holder
* Highly Self Motivated
* Excellent problem-solving skills
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Qualifications
* LGV Category C licence
* HGV minimum of class 2 (CPC driver qualification)
* Confined Space trained to NC4 Level
* High Pressure water jetting trained up to 10,000psi
About the Team
The Vactor Services team sits within the Integrated Operational Services under the Wastewater directorate. The Vactor team provides essential Industrial Cleaning services for our operational teams in both Wastewater and Water.
