Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ) is fundamental to the success of our business and our dedicated HSEQ Function is key to supporting our colleagues and clients in aligning with our corporate values and ESG commitments.
The HSEQ Graduate role plays an important part in driving HSEQ standards and supplying high quality technical and specialist HSEQ support to our Operational Manager & Teams. As a HSEQ Graduate you will be provided the opportunity to work across all Sectors within Complex Facilities in separate postings within our three specialist fields of Health & Safety, Environment & Sustainability and Quality. This will provide core understanding of each discipline and permit the possibility of selecting which field your career will develop upon completion of the Graduate role. During the placement, additional professional training can be provided where required. At the end of the position, the candidate will be expected to hold relevant professional HS&E qualifications and hold suitable membership to a recognised professional body (funded by Amey).
The role is varied; however, core responsibilities will include:
* Assist with the development & delivery of the business HSEQ Strategy
* Attending & participating in operational meetings to drive the HSEQ agenda
* Provide guidance, advice, and support to all levels within the organisation to ensure compliance with the Amey HSEQ management system
* Monitoring incident systems to ensure that managers act on all incidents. You will support the account/function in event investigations and become a trained lead investigator
* Undertake regular site inspections, audits and visits to work locations across the business. You will use your technical knowledge to observe and audit, finding areas of strength and weakness.
* Supporting Bidding teams with their submissions, providing an overview of the SHEQ role, policy process procedures and systems. Assist with mobilisation & demobilisation activity.
* Input and support the development of the business’s Net Zero, Wellbeing, Ecological & Behavioural Safety strategies
We want to hear from you if you have:
* Minimum 2:2 Degree, preferably within the Science, Legal, Business Management or Engineering Disciplines
* A driving licence would be desirable.
* Available to join the programme in September 2025
* Excellent communication skills – Written and oral
* High level of motivation and initiative; self-starter
