Scottish Water’s People Directorate is focused on delivering an inspiring people experience that helps our employees flourish and creates experiences that are simple, bold, purposeful, and people-centred.
Workday is our HR management and recruitment system. It helps the business manage around 4,500 people, and allows them to do things like book annual leave, change roles, claim expenses and log overtime. With over 70,000 log-ins each month, Workday is one of Scottish Water’s most used systems.
We’re looking for a People Systems Team Manager to lead the People Systems team which maintains and optimises Workday.
What You’ll Do
1. Develop, configure, and enhance Workday, ensuring appropriate governance of its data.
2. Act as subject matter expert on exciting projects that simplify and streamline Workday processes to improve employee experience and data quality.
3. Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external Workday partners to resolve issues and support continuous improvement.
4. Manage Workday release cycles, ensuring all updates are tested and implemented effectively.
5. Mentor and upskill team members, ensuring knowledge sharing and adherence to best practices, while maintaining compliance with data protection and security standards.

What You’ll Need
1. Experience of Workday or similar systems, specifically Workday’s HCM and Recruiting modules.
2. Core technical skills in system governance, lean principles, and improvement delivery with a focus on optimising user experience.
3. Problem-solving skills to resolve complex system and process issues quickly and efficiently.
4. A collaborative approach with strong interpersonal skills for effective teamwork.
5. Security awareness regarding data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR) and data security issues.
6. A continuous improvement mindset for enhancing systems and processes.
7. Leadership skills to coach and develop a small team of People Consultants.

The not-so-small print
This role will be a Grade 8 with a starting salary of £48,900, allowing performance-driven pay progression to a maximum of £68,510.
