An exciting role has become available for a Quality Engineer at a leading coatings company. You will be responsible for ensuring that all procedures and processes are fully implemented and that continuous improvement opportunities are identified effectively, as well as guaranteeing that products manufactured achieve customer and company specifications. You will report directly to the QHSE Manager and work closely with the Sales, Supply Chain, R&D, and Operations teams to resolve customer concerns effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with customers' quality and engineering personnel to ensure all internal systems comply with expectations.
2. Provide quality support to operations ensuring consistent application of quality techniques.
3. Resolve quality issues of capability, tolerance, and performance by identifying problems, examining solution options, implementing action plans, and providing resources.
4. Maintain IMDS database and annual submissions and apply appropriate use of statistical techniques.
5. Develop and submit PPAP documents for new product launches and/or modifications to existing products.
6. Determine when process stability and capability studies should be performed on existing processes. Review and analyze results. Recommend changes to processes based on findings and perform follow-up to verify effectiveness.
7. Participate in the Advanced Product Quality Planning activities to determine appropriate use of existing and new measurement systems during new tool or process design and start-up.
8. Coordinate pre-launch production trial run process monitoring.
9. Maintain Control Plans and FMEAs throughout the life of the part.
10. Lead and facilitate the use of appropriate problem-solving techniques for effective root cause analysis and successful corrective action.
11. Plan and conduct product, process, and system audits and ensure robust corrective actions are implemented, where necessary.
12. Determine and apply appropriate Measurement System Analysis tools.
13. Perform all types of internal, supplier, and VDA audits as determined by the schedules and specific needs or expectations.
14. Responsible for maintaining Quality Management Systems to the requirements of IATF16949 and ISO9001 certification standards.
Ideal Candidate:
1. IT literate, with experience of QMS Software and ERP system integration.
2. A data-driven, analytical mindset with a passion for the application of problem-solving tools.
3. Certified Auditor, with proven auditing experience.
4. Strong leadership and facilitation skills to balance multiple priorities.
5. Able to engage with customers and suppliers effectively by providing detailed analytical analysis and requisite reports.
6. Five years' experience operating within an ISO9001/IATF16949 certified quality management system.
7. Experience in the use of problem-solving tools (8D, 5-Why, Cause and Effect Analysis, etc.).
8. Specific skills in developing and executing DOEs with a strong analytical/SPC background.
9. Internal/external Quality Management System auditing experience.
10. Domain knowledge in analytical chemistry is desirable.
11. Working knowledge of Minitab is desirable.
12. VDA 6.3 Process Auditing Experience is desirable.
