Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Vocational Learning Centre, Runcorn A Vocational Learning Centre in Runcorn is seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support students across a range of hands-on learning environments. This full-time role involves working alongside tutors in workshops and delivering pupil interventions to ensure every learner is supported in their personal and academic development. The Vocational Learning Centre is committed to providing learners of all abilities with high-quality, work-based learning that helps develop essential skills, increases independence, and leads to valuable accreditation through vocational pathways. Students have the opportunity to gain qualifications in: Motor Vehicle Maintenance & Engineering Hair and Beauty Construction & Joinery The ideal candidate will have experience supporting young people in vocational or alternative education settings and be confident working within practical workshop environments. They will need to be proactive, adaptable, and patient, with the ability to engage and motivate students who may have struggled in traditional classroom settings. Strong communication and behavior management skills are essential, as well as the ability to build positive, supportive relationships with students and staff. Key Responsibilities: Support tutors in vocational workshops, assisting with practical sessions. Provide targeted interventions to help students develop confidence, skills, and independence. Work with students on individual learning plans, ensuring they stay on track to achieve qualifications. Assist in managing behavior and engagement, offering guidance and support when needed. Help create a positive, inclusive learning environment that encourages students to reach their potential. Requirements: Previous experience as a HLTA, Teaching Assistant, or Learning Mentor in a vocational or alternative education setting. Confidence supporting students in practical, hands-on learning environments. Strong communication, behavior management, and mentoring skills. A passion for vocational education and helping students achieve their aspirations. A proactive, flexible, and supportive approach to learning.
