We have an opportunity for an Area Sales Manager to join our team, working on a full-time (37.5 hours) basis.
The Role
Reporting to the Commercial Director, the purpose of this role is to build relationships with key customers and be responsible for managing a customer base within a set geographical area. In this role you will drive sales through customer interactions and effective management of our product range to increase sales and gross margin, and convert customers to utilisation of our services and create, negotiate and close commercial agreements.
This role will require you to operate in a field-based capacity, spending time travelling to customer sites and attending our office in Tankersley as and when required. You will work closely with the Commercial Director, our internal Customer Services team and a small team of Area Sales Managers. Key responsibilities include:
* Research and identify new business opportunities across all product ranges including standard GRP and Fire Door Systems (FDS).
* Develop and implement an effective lead generation and prospecting strategy to attract new business opportunities.
* Build long lasting relationships with new and existing clients, stakeholders and partners.
* Manage and maintain a sales pipeline with up-to-date figures and expectations.
* Any new business brought in must go through a full profitability analysis down to a contribution level completed by the finance team with support from the ASM.
* Proactively manage customer base within geographic area allocated through professional and effective customer relations.
* Use product knowledge to negotiate and close agreements.
ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT:
* Build relationships with existing clients to always facilitate fluid and transparent interactions.
* Remain up to date on volume of sales per period per customer & gross margin.
* Keep abreast of market challenges to ensure customer needs are continuously met.
* Provide sales forecasts for new products and be responsible for selling glass, product services, 70mm and all new products with customers.
* Full accountability of customer accounts to include professional and effective management of accounts and proactively working on a solutions-focused approach to market challenges.
SERVICE IMPROVEMENT:
* Ensure the company remains proactive and responsive to prospective and current customers through customer visit reporting.
* Ensure that a best-in-class approach is adopted, and high customer service levels are always maintained.
* Work in partnership with customer service team, technical, quality and operations to ensure customers’ needs are met and our internal lead time and OTIF targets are met.
* Act as the face of the business and primary connection between customer and the business.
FINANCE & STRATEGY:
* Be aware of, and manage, the sales budget accordingly and proactively works towards improving sales and profit for your area.
* Manage our product and service mix, including pricing and margins according to agreed aims.
* Remain aware of internal and external barriers and issues affecting our products and service, including market and industry challenges, and stay aligned with the impact on any impact to sales and profit.
* Conduct competitor analysis as and when required and stay ahead of competitor intelligence.
* Contribute to the overall sales strategy development.
* Contribute to overall sales strategy for the business to achieve short, medium, and long term objectives.
Education and Knowledge
* Proven business development manager who is established with working to targets and achieving sales plans.
* Track record in sales, business development and obtaining new business.
* Track record of increasing revenue through generation of leads.
* Experience with business analysis and judgement with the ability to proactively manage business and P&L to meet objectives.
* Industry knowledge and experience (desirable).
