Before you start, you and the Intern coordinator will create your desired summer internship experience based after the following categories: Customer Experience Build relationships with customers, their spouse and families, and their employees to build strong customer relationships, create awareness of Landus offerings and opportunities, and increase attendance at events held by Landus. Highlight the benefits of attending such as networking opportunities, knowledge sharing and community building. Engage with customers over the phone, email or text, to address questions, concerns or feedback. Provide quick responses and assistance to customers’ needs and requests and ensure a positive experience during all customer interactions. Assist customers with inquiries and issues related to billing/statements, requests for products and service knowledge, Landus event details, complaints/issues, and all other general inquiries, issues, or needs. Connect customers with appropriate Landus staff, departments, or the Grow Solutions Center, to provide the expertise required to fulfill the customer’s needs. Establish a firm understanding of the Landus culture and philosophy always demonstrating the Landus values and embracing and building that culture with customers and throughout the Landus organization. Promote a sales, support and growth culture with all employees within Landus Agronomy Field Scouting, Soil Sampling, etc. with Account Manager or Account Lead Learn about customer relationships Basic knowledge of products offered to our customers Hands on with plant operations Learn about the future of the agronomy business Field Equipment Operations- Tender & Applicator Work with seed treatment Gain basic understanding of Fertilizer and NH3 including proper handling Attend agronomic training Learn about Precision Ag Gain knowledge of the future of the seed industry Grain Basic understanding of CBOT Visit Landus locations to better understand geographic marketing decisions Month end inventory control and measurement procedures Observe month end Quality and Quantity review Work with outside operations to understand grain flow Bin segregation, Drying, Aeration, Handling equipment, etc. Work with outside operations to understand functions of an elevator Pits, Legs, Conveyors, Maintenance, and Housekeeping Learn inbound and outbound grading procedures (Customer receipts, trains, transfers, trucking to processors, etc.) Gain knowledge about the future of the grain industry Assist in train loading process Grow Solution Center Spend time with a GROW Solutions Center Specialist to understand how we provide virtual assistance to both our growers and employees with grain, agronomy, and precision ag questions. Learn about the GROW Ag Data Locker platform that captures and stores on-farm data and how it can provide monetization opportunities for our customers. Animal Nutrition - Soy Production Assist in operations of the main master control, loadout, degumming, and oil filtering system Learn to perform oil pretreatment of FFA (Free Fatty Acid) including running tests on the oil for iron and phosphorus Learn about loadout functions, which include preparing trucks and rail cars for shipment and loading products (oil, meal, and specialty oil) by rail and truck Learn various quality control functions including operation of lab equipment for meal, oil, and water, visual inspection of all types of inventory, and measuring physical inventory Administration Work with budgeting process Work on feasibility study, if available Learn company cash flows Learn about balance sheet Learn how to put together monthly financials Learn about risk management Sustainability in Agriculture General Monthly P& L review Landus Policy & Procedures Budgeting and Capital Expenditures Transportation Logistics Complete online Safety videos and quizzes. Understand and practice all Landus safety policies Responsible for being a champion of safety compliance throughout organization Requirements Candidate Requirements Currently enrolled in a 2 or 4-year post-secondary program Licenses, Registrations, Certificates Valid state motor vehicle operator’s license Location & Commitments Frequent use of hands and fingers to prod, handle, feel, or reach. Regularly required to talk or hear. Occasionally required to stand, walk, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision requirements include close vision and the ability to focus vision. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
