Job Description Role: Head of Credit Location: Birmingham – hybrid Salary: Flexible dependent on experience Skills: Property development, Property Finance, Development Finance, Lending, borrowing, property, lending platform, investment Position Overview: Our client, a development finance specialist is recruiting for a Head of Credit to oversee and manage their credit risk department. You’ll be responsible for evaluating and approving credit applications, leading and mentoring the team, managing surveyors, pushing technology change and providing a class-leading credit operation. Job Description: Conduct comprehensive risk assessments on credit applications, evaluating the financial stability and viability of development finance projects. Develop and enhance credit policies and procedures to ensure alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with senior management to establish credit risk tolerance and guidelines. Work closely with the lending team to understand deal structures, project timelines, and client requirements. Drive technology change and be excited about the potential of technology to improve business operations. Work with the wider business to help build and deploy a new and improved V2 of core systems, including improving workflows, processes, etc. Stay updated on industry regulations and compliance standards. Ensure that all credit activities adhere to legal and regulatory requirements. Evaluate the creditworthiness of potential customers and conduct periodic reviews of existing customers. Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, providing insights on credit-related matters. Manage 3rd party relationships Manage a small team of surveyors who will assess ongoing risks relating to property development projects Oversee the credit granting process for the company to optimise company sales Experience: Experience in property development lending and knowledge of first-charge lending (highly desirable) Proven experience in implementing technology systems and driving technology change. Experience building and shaping high-performing credit teams Experience driving improvement of workflows and processes
