About the Role:
As a Residential Support Worker, you will be working with young people aged 16-25 in a residential setting in and around Sheffield. Your role is crucial in helping students build independence and life skills. You’ll support them with day-to-day activities, including meal planning, shopping, social activities, and everyday household tasks, all while fostering a safe and nurturing environment. This is not just a job; it’s an opportunity to truly make an impact!
Shift Patterns: Shifts available Monday - Sunday (there is an expectation for you to be available at the weekend) AM shifts: 8am - 4pm PM shifts: 3:30-10pm OR full days.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide compassionate and patient care to young people with Autism, Learning Difficulties, Severe Learning Difficulties, and Mental Health challenges .
* Assist in daily routines and responsibilities within a residential household, ensuring each student’s needs are met.
* Encourage independence, build self-esteem, and support students in making informed, safe decisions .
* Respect the privacy, dignity, and safety of students at all times.
* Work closely with your team to foster a positive, supportive environment where young people can thrive.
* Take proactive steps to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour with confidence and resilience.
What We Are Looking For:
o MUST have 6 months - 1 year minimum experience working with young people, particularly those with disabilities and mental health needs .
o A strong SEND focus —this role is not for just any support worker! Experience in working with young people with Autism, Learning Difficulties, and Mental Health challenges is essential .
o Must be available to work weekends, including Saturdays and Sundays .
o A flexible attitude, ready to adapt and respond to the unique needs of each individual.
o Strong interpersonal skills with the confidence and resilience to handle challenging situations.
o A genuine passion for supporting young people in their journey to independence .
