Rotational Senior Radiographer (Diagnostic)
AfC Band 6
Job overview
Are you a skilled and enthusiastic radiographer looking to make a big impact? We have an excellent opportunity for a Band 6 radiographer to join our friendly and supportive team to help further expand your clinical expertise.
We have an Excellent Preceptorship programme to help new recruits not just to get to know the department but also get to know the area where the hospital is based. IV cannulation and Red Dot courses will be encouraged as standard for this post.
Opportunities for CPD are very well supported at The Royal Surrey. We have an established radiographer-led CT colonography service and have 9 qualified reporting advanced practitioners as well as a Radiographer Clinical Lead for AI. We have a number of our radiographers on advanced practice pathways including ultrasound and mammography interventional and film reading courses with some also working towards being consultant radiographers.
As well as our CDC in Milford opening next year, we opened our beautiful new MRI suite comprising of 2 Philips 3T & 1.5T scanners in Nov 2022; our new Interventional suite in January 2023 and we extended our community diagnostic facilities with additional ultrasound rooms in May 2023. With a new radiology management team, this really is an exciting time to come and work with us.
Main duties of the job
Our band 6 rotation at Royal Surrey Hospital will include CT and plain film imaging along with the opportunity to rotate through interventional imaging, fluoroscopy and the Cardiac Catheter lab.
Your rotation also has the benefit of extending out to our community sites based in:
* Haslemere – A quaint and charming market town located in the South of Surrey. The hospital houses one X-ray room and one Ultrasound room with a busy Minor Injuries Unit which is currently in discussion to be upgraded to an Urgent Treatment Centre.
* Milford – Based in the quiet village, Milford Hospital is now home to our brand new state of the art Community Diagnostic Centre due to open in February 2025 and housing 2 MRI scanners and a CT scanner.
* Cranleigh – Situated at the foot of Surrey Hills, Cranleigh is a picturesque and vibrant village and home to Cranleigh Village Hospital. We have one X-ray room and one Ultrasound room here.
The main department comprises of 3 general rooms, a 2 room A+E department, 2 MRI scanners, ultrasound department, digital fluoroscopy, Interventional suite and 2 Hologic tomosynthesis units. This year we have installed a new Cone Beam CT scanner into our Maxillo-facial department which has seen a huge improvement in the service we can offer to our patients. We have 4 CT scanners: a Siemens Somatom, a GE Frontier, GE Revolution, and GE Evolution.
Overseas applicants with HCPC are welcome to apply. The hospital is in close proximity to 2 major international airports, Heathrow and Gatwick.
