Job Purpose
Our new UK Procurement and Supplier Governance team proactively engages with the business to drive strategy in line with corporate objectives and manage Canada Life’s suppliers to extract maximum value for the organization from existing contracts and relationships.
The IT Procurement Manager will need strong procurement and sourcing knowledge and be able to manage commercial negotiations with third parties. They will liaise with key business stakeholders across Canada Life to ensure favorable commercial terms that mitigate business risk.
The role will support Canada Life Business Leaders and the Supplier Relationship Management Lead for IT-related contracts. They will support key stakeholders in leading and executing deals according to business policy and agreed timelines and create a proactive pipeline that brings savings and value to the business. The successful candidate must be able to use competitor and industry knowledge to drive innovation and commercial value to Canada Life and ensure end-to-end sourcing cycle visibility, creating line of sight on demand, cost, service, and risk through proactive category planning work.
Duties/Responsibilities
* To lead the creation and delivery of procurement category plans that achieve or exceed agreed annual savings targets by seeking alternative opportunities to current specifications/demand parameters.
* Lead the creation and maintenance of pipeline procurement projects (forecast and tracking) to achieve or exceed agreed minimum annual savings target.
* To challenge the status quo and unpack complex business problems, apply advanced analytical thinking/market knowledge and drive the most appropriate business outcome.
* Influences the business by demonstrating a variety of commercial models to drive the most appropriate business outcomes through the category planning lifecycle and prioritise/schedule strategic sourcing initiatives for the year, in alignment with business milestones.
* Constantly monitor the supply market and identify opportunities resulting from new product/service offerings and/or market shifts (e.g. entry or exit of suppliers, changes in pricing, risk on category).
* Ensure continuous alignment and communication with relevant businesses/functions on category development and decisions.
* Lead supplier sourcing reviews (RFI, RFX, RFP) on behalf of business owners, negotiate commercial terms and mitigate supply risks through to contract sign-off and successful handover to business owners to manage the supplier relationship.
* Develop Board packs to support supplier recommendations to senior business leaders which have all had the right level of engagement with Legal, Risk, and Compliance.
* Support Supplier Relationship Management in the classification of new suppliers to determine the most appropriate SRM treatment/due diligence frequency.
* Ensure category and project data (savings, pipeline, milestones, risks, issues) is accurate and reflective of reality.
* Adherence to all Canada Life policies including the Procurement Outsourcing Policy and Standards.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
* Strong experience in strategic sourcing/procurement.
* Experience working within an IT category.
* Professional Services Category experience.
* Has proven cost reduction identification and conversation with third-party suppliers.
* Strong leadership skills and can influence demanding stakeholders.
* Strong commercial acumen.
* University degree or equivalent (e.g. CIPS).
