Job Title: Machine Operator Reports to: Value Stream Manager Contract Type: Permanent WorkingHours: Rotating Shifts Shift patterns are subject to change, management reserves the right to vary shift patterns and times when appropriate. Department: BAE Location: Global Point Main Purpose of Role: The core purpose of the Machine Operator is to work on a variety of machines producing components to drawing requirements and tolerance and to verify those dimensions with appropriate measuring equipment and complete the relevant paperwork to the standard required. Key Responsibilitiesand Accountabilities: Read the job requirements from drawings, production cards or Method of Manufacture (MOM). Set up machine in line with work instruction/MOM Set tools, load to machine, inspect and change as necessary Operate CNC machines and other equipment including deburring to produce conforming components, within the established time and to the required quality standard Verify that components conform to drawing using appropriate, defined measuring equipment and quality procedures. Work on a variety of machines in the Value Stream, managing your time effectively to fulfil OEE. Ensure machines are working to the production schedule provided and are working to full capacity on a daily basis. Work to standards set in MOM only and escalate any issues through the appropriate WTL/VSM. Carry our daily and weekly machine Planned Maintenance and complete the relevant paperwork to a high standard. Support and participate in Continuous Improvement activity. Responsible for the set 6S standard in your area, completing the relevant paperwork to a high standard. Always operate any equipment or process in a safe manner in line with proper procedure and appropriate training, wearing the required PPE at all times. Any additional tasks or duties deemed necessary to meet all responsibilities of the role. Qualifications Essential Maths, English and Science GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent) AND NVQ Level 3 or above in Engineering or other relevant discipline OR Time Served Apprenticeship in Engineering or other relevant discipline Desirable HNC Level 4/5 in Engineering or other relevant discipline Experience Essential 3 and 5 axis CNC Milling experience within the last 10 years. 3 years previous experience in an engineering/manufacturing environment within the last 10 years. Desirable Experience of Hermle or Mazak Machines within the last 10 years. Previous experience in an aerospace production environment within the last 10 years. Competencies Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, in metric and imperial. Ability to use inspection measuring equipment. Experience of working to and implementing quality standards across your role. Self-starter motivated with the ability to manage own time. Logical Thinker with the ability to complete daily tasks.
