Job Description:
This role would suit a highly motivated young (at heart) live-in support worker with a passion for complex care needs in younger adults. Our client is living with cerebral palsy and uses a motorised chair. He attends university and is studying mathematics. While he requires support with all aspects of his personal care, he is keen to live his life to the full and wants to be involved with all aspects of a social life that is appropriate for his age.
While we welcome all applications, he and his family would prefer a younger female who is able to drive and has access to reliable transport, although they will consider all applicants on their own merits.
Qualifications:
Prior to coming to us, this family has been unsuccessful in finding consistent support, as much of what has been provided concentrated on our client's 'care needs' and not on our client's self-worth. It is imperative that the successful candidate is proactive and acts on their own initiative. They must have a sense of humour and be willing to engage in social activities as well as supporting his ability to live well with dignity.
The successful candidate will be patient to ensure our client has time to make and execute choices and achieve personal goals. This would suit someone who has a high-level academic history but who has a passion for bringing joy and is not afraid to get stuck in. Given the complexity of need, this would suit someone who has had experience supporting complex needs in younger adults.
Additional Information:
The successful candidate will need to be flexible as this is likely to be a 5-day permanent placement with days varying depending on activities for that week. Therefore, our preferred candidate will be living within the Portsmouth area.
Applicants should be over the age of 18.
This role is UK-based, and the right to work in the UK will need to be established as part of the recruitment process.
We encourage applications from all sections of the community as we want to reflect the neighbourhoods in which we work. Home Instead is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of adults and expects all staff to share this commitment.
This role is subject to DBS enhanced disclosure and satisfactory references.
