Balancing a wide range of competing and often conflicting objectives encompassing planned and reactive tasks, compliance, health and safety and stakeholder engagement in order to maximise the effectiveness of the team. You'll work with both internal colleagues and people from our external partnerships, as an ambassador for the Better Rivers Better North West (BRBNW) programme. You'll communicate well and form and develop relationships with external partners. Accountabilities & Responsibilities In this role you'll supervise, coach and develop a team of River Rangers. Carry out Health and Safety briefings, and core brief team briefs and champion the highest standards of safety behaviour and accountable for the safety performance of their team (including inspections, maintenance of vehicles, tools, equipment and PPE). You'll also be responsible for: Ensuring the successful implementation of the current training plan, preventing expiry of Health and Safety certificates, through regular contact and performance reviews. Managing and engage a skilled and motivated team, tracking performance with data analysis and consistent communication to achieve high levels of efficiency and productivity. Building strong connections with internal and external stakeholders to identify, address, or escalate issues, ensuring optimal operational efficiency across the geographical area. Providing prompt responses to operational and catchment emergencies, clear debris following storm spill events, inspect United Utilities assets, and clearly define remedial work requirements. Gathering weekly performance data, liaise with relevant parties, and represent the company at meetings with NGOs and local community groups, promoting United Utilities’ reputation and protecting its interests. Technical Skills & Experience To be successful in this role you'll need previous line management or supervisory experience (preferable). You'll also: Demonstrate ability to work effectively as part of a team and on own initiative, contributing to overall success and productivity. Have a flexible approach to daily tasks and the ability to adapt seamlessly to accommodate reactive works and changing priorities. Have strong capability to plan work activities proactively and liaise efficiently with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth operations. Have a high degree of resilience to manage daily demands on time and resources, coupled with a strong commitment to Health and Safety policies and procedures. Have excellent communication abilities, including accurately exchanging complex information, leading discussions in challenging situations, and engaging effectively with customers, colleagues, and senior managers.
