Position: Chartered Senior Quantity Surveyor

Salary: £65,000 per annum
Job Overview:
We are looking for an experienced and highly qualified Chartered Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading consultancy in Manchester. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of construction projects from initial design to project completion. As a key member of the team, you will guide project cost control, manage procurement processes, and ensure that all payments and contract changes are validated and approved.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Cost Consultancy: Provide expert advice on project costs at every stage, from early design to final handover, ensuring financial accuracy and project feasibility.
2. Procurement Strategy: Offer strategic guidance on procurement and contracting, helping to select and hire contractors that deliver value for money.
3. Cost Planning and Control: Produce and maintain initial cost plans, monitor budgets, and control expenditures to ensure alignment with project goals.
4. Payment Management: Collaborate closely with the contractor's Quantity Surveyor (QS) to validate and authorise monthly payment claims, ensuring accurate and timely payment.
5. Change Control: Approve any variations or changes to the original contract price, ensuring all adjustments are in line with financial and contractual agreements.
6. Site Visits: Conduct site visits approximately once a week to review project progress and assess cost impacts on site.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Chartered status with RICS or a similar professional body.
2. Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
3. Extensive experience in a PQS or Senior Quantity Surveyor role, with a focus on large-scale projects.
4. Strong expertise in cost control, contract management, and procurement.
5. Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
