We are currently seeking a stores clerk to join our team on a 12-month contract, with the potential for extension. The successful candidate will play a vital role in assisting engineers and technicians with their technical investigations and operations, ensuring all components, materials, and products are accurately handled and stored throughout the process.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist Engineers and Technicians with all aspects of store-related tasks, including receiving, unloading, progressing, packing, and shipping parts internally.
Handle interactions with suppliers, customers, and engineers, ensuring the accurate tracking and booking of materials through electronic systems.
Receive and check materials delivered from suppliers, both internal and external, ensuring accuracy and resolving any issues related to deliveries.
Perform weekly inventory checks, maintaining Sarbanes Oxley compliance, and ensuring accurate stock levels.
Safely handle EV battery modules, ensuring proper training and competence.
Conduct basic inspections on received parts for quality and damage, such as rust, part quantities, and condition.
Use various internal systems (e.g., EE, Test Manager) to track inventory, progress orders, and book in/out items.
Collaborate with the Obsolescence Team to remove obsolete materials from inventory.
Pick and prepare parts for prototype engines and battery kits, following instructions and ensuring proper packing and labelling.
Operate and manage Kardex (electronically controlled storage system), maintaining stock and performing basic maintenance tasks.
Flexibly rotate between various store functions such as goods in, goods delivery, and process improvement projects.
Lead or assist with small projects aimed at improving process flow, storage, and handling solutions.
Collaborate with campus stores to manage and progress material flow, assisting with procurement and resourcing.
Operate FLT (Counterbalance Forklift), flatbed trucks, and other handling equipment to move materials around the site.
Maintain accurate records for deliveries, collections, and external storage locations.
Ensure safe working practices are followed, addressing any safety concerns as they arise.
Maintain a clean and organised working environment, disposing of waste as required.Qualifications & Experience:
Previous experience working in stores or similar roles, with a strong understanding of stock control and materials management.
Counterbalance Forklift Truck (FLT) license is essential.
Full UK driving license required.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to communicate effectively across different teams and levels.
Flexible and adaptable, with a willingness to work shifts and overtime when needed.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, contributing to the success of the department.
Knowledge of safety policies and procedures, with a strong commitment to working safely at all times.
