We are working with a leading technology company seeking an RF Applications Engineer to join their growing team. The role requires interaction with global customers and partners, collaborating with the Field Application Engineering (FAE) team, and supporting mmWave RF design and software driver integration. The candidate is expected to comprehend, assess, and suggest enhancements for existing customer designs, representing the company’s technology comprehensively.
Additionally, the selected individual will manage customer and partner product customisation requests, addressing various specifications like EVB sizes and connectivity requirements. Reporting to the Product Management organisation, the responsibilities of this position include:
Responsibilities as an RF Applications Engineer:
1. Taking ownership of design customisation and providing advanced technical support for potential design-in opportunities and design wins.
2. Collaborating closely with FAE to ensure a seamless front-line customer support experience.
3. Offering a second line of technical support through various channels such as phone, email, conference calls, and occasional face-to-face customer visits.
4. Handling customer support tasks, including test setups, drafting supporting documents, and writing Python scripts to facilitate customer test requirements.
5. Assisting Product Engineering & Quality teams with customer Return Merchandise Authorisation (RMA) and associated investigations.
6. Exercising business judgment to determine additional support or necessary escalation.
7. Working collaboratively in cross-functional situations with R&D, Sales, Product Management, FAE, Operations, and Marketing.
Requirements as an RF Applications Engineer:
Must Have:
8. Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with an emphasis in RF and 8+ years of relevant experience in design, test, or as a sales/AE/FAE engineer in the RF space.
9. Experience in RF and mmW active components, with the ability to quickly grasp technical aspects of similar products.
10. Familiarity with various mmWave bench test equipment (spectrum analyser, AWG, oscilloscope, power meter, and DC measurement tools).
11. Embedded hardware/software experience: real-time low-level programming (C), Python scripting, microcontrollers, peripherals, and standard interfaces (SPI, I2C, etc.).
12. Customer-facing role experience in a sales or support environment.
13. Excellent business communication and presentation skills.
14. Ability to travel worldwide to customer sites independently.
Qualifications that Stand Out:
15. MS degree plus 5 years of relevant experience.
16. Proficiency in mmWave measurements test methodologies.
17. System-level understanding of mmWave wireless links.
18. PCB design and rework skills are a plus.
19. Attention to detail and commitment to continuous improvement.
20. Ability to work strategically and tactically in dynamic, ambiguous situations.
21. Team leadership skills.
