About The Role
Are you passionate about enabling people affected by dementia to share their experiences and be heard? If so, then we'd love to hear from you!
Local Dementia Voice activities enable people living with dementia to engage in meaningful activities within a group setting, either online or face-to-face, and to have a voice. They do this by using their experiences to influence the work of Alzheimer's Society and the health and social care environment on matters to improve the quality of their lives.
Responsibilities:
1. Set up the room and tidy away at the end of the group.
2. Prepare and hand out refreshments.
3. Welcome and talk with people living with dementia and assist them to engage in Dementia Voice activities.
4. If supporting an online group, join in the conversation.
5. Perform light administration duties, such as registering attendees or taking meeting notes.
6. Attend the group at the community hall of Solihull Methodist Church, B91 1LG, for 2.5 hours each month.
7. Be available to type minutes, make phone calls, and do admin for an additional 1.5 hours per month.
You'll be great for the role if:
* You are aware of or are interested in learning about dementia and its impact on people, their needs, and enabling them to share their experiences.
* You can demonstrate empathy, compassion, and patience.
* You have good communication skills, especially listening, and are organised.
* You enjoy meeting new people and being part of a team.
* You are over the age of 16.
