Job overview
Work within a specific clinical area to support the smooth running of the patient journey by ensuring that administrative processes revolve around the patient and their individual needs.
Support the service in providing administrative support including receptionist duties to all clinical staff within the clinical area including, Consultants, Nurse Specialists and Junior Doctors.
Support the clinical, nursing and managerial teams and other divisional managers in ensuring the speciality is able to deliver safe and effective services whilst also ensuring compliance with contractual access targets e.g. the 18 weeks Referral to Treatment target.
Provide cross-cover for other Patient Pathway Assistants to ensure a consistent and effective administration service is maintained at all times.
Main duties of the job
1. Supporting the delivery of administrative processes along the patient pathway to ensure the patient’s journey is managed efficiently, smoothly and in accordance with targets and agreed timescales.
2. Utilise computerised tracking systems to locate case notes and investigation results.
3. Demonstrate high levels of customer care and be an ambassador for customer care within the trust.
4. Act as the communication hub for the clinical team.
5. Support the Patient Pathway Co-ordinator/Administrator in dealing with and recording all concerns/complaints coming into the department, both on the telephone and in writing, escalating as appropriate.
6. Provide reception cover and OPD support to ensure clinics run smoothly.
7. Provide a comprehensive reception service as required.
8. Support the Cardiac Physiology Co-ordinator/Administrator to set up, review and adjust clinics in liaison with appropriate clinicians to ensure they meet the demands and expectations of patients and other stakeholders.
9. Support the Patient Pathway Co-ordinators/Administrator, Divisional Managers and Clinicians in co-ordinating clinic capacity including liaising with patients in relation to clinic cancellations and re-bookings.
10. Participate in the induction of new administrative staff within core teams and across the Trust as appropriate, sharing knowledge and expertise of the administrative processes and functions within the role.
