Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: Full Time
Salary: £26,460 pa plus benefits
Location: HMP Ranby, HMP Nottingham and HMP Fosse Way - As this role involves regular travel between prisons, access to transport is a requirement of the role.
Rebuilding your life after prison is one of the toughest challenges a person can face. But with the right support, it's possible. That's where you come in.
We're looking for a Personal Wellbeing Advisor - someone with a rare mix of compassion, resilience, organisation, and flexibility. This is for the person who understands that rehabilitation isn't just about offering advice; it's about rolling up your sleeves and proactively supporting someone on their journey.
This is a demanding role; you'll be working in a challenging environment with people who have complex needs and who can be reluctant to engage. But when you help someone break the cycle and you see them take real steps toward transforming their life, it's a great feeling.
About the Role:
You'll mainly be working with males 18+ as they transition from prison into the community. You will be working with pre-release teams and other departments within the prison to complete personal well-being assessments and create tailored action plans for individuals approaching release.
You will need to be able to manage a caseload, working with multiple individuals ensuring each person gets the support they need while keeping meticulous records of every interaction.
What You'll Be Doing:
* Pre-release planning: Meet with individuals in custody to create a personalised action plan for their transition back into society, identifying specific needs and barriers.
* Action Planning: You will formulate a detailed action plan that shapes the support they receive post-release by their assigned Mentor, helping them reintegrate through practical well-being activities.
* Caseload management: You'll manage multiple individuals, balancing their needs while keeping up with all the related admin.
* Quality Recording: Keep thorough, up-to-date records of all your work on our IT system, ensuring nothing falls through the cracks and progress is properly tracked.
* Group & 121 Delivery: Deliver wellbeing support in various settings.
What We're Looking For:
* Relationship Building: You're able to connect with people at all levels, engaging with key stakeholders within Probation and building relationships with Service Users in a way that's genuine, promotes a sense of trust, and is non-judgemental.
* Service Ambassador: Regular engagement with relevant organisations to enhance their understanding of the service. Promoting the benefits of the service and identifying those who may want to be referred.
* Safeguarding awareness: You are supporting complex individuals at a challenging time in their lives and will need to be able to identify any safeguarding risks. You will be fully supported following any challenging interventions.
* IT and Administrative skills: Keeping meticulous records of every interaction to measure client progress and ensure effective interventions.
* Resilience: This role can be challenging, and results may take time, but you are the kind of person who stays committed and sees things through.
* Flexibility: You'll need to be comfortable with change, as referral flows & prisoner releases change frequently.
* Transport: You'll need the means to travel between prisons and community sites each day. You will be given a base (agreed at offer stage) and travel to other offices/prisons will be reimbursed.
