Due to growth, the position of Front End Study Manager has become available to join our vibrant team based in Manchester Office.
Costain provides Engineering and Design services to the Energy, Water, Defence, and Transport Sectors. We have exciting opportunities available to join our growing Energy team working to accelerate the energy transition as well as delivering more traditional projects to optimise our clients’ assets and extend their useful life, both onshore and offshore.
We are seeking Study Managers experienced in delivering front end scopes, starting at the earliest stages in project development, including feasibility assessments, concept selection, and Pre-FEED studies.
In this role, the Study Manager will lead multi-disciplinary teams across one or more studies, with clients ranging from major energy companies to specialist project developers.
The Study Manager will, in most cases, provide the main interface with the client’s project team and will work collaboratively to achieve desired outcomes, building strong relationships and growing workstreams and new opportunities.
Costain’s Energy team delivers optimised solutions to customers in the energy production, energy transition, and related industries, including oil & gas production, energy storage, carbon capture, hydrogen production, fuel switching, and emissions reduction. The team is focused on finding the best solutions in the earliest phases of projects and, where necessary, developing technologies required for delivery of these solutions. The team includes specialists in process, mechanical, safety, and environmental design, working closely with the wider engineering teams in Costain and collaboratively with customers and partners.
Working arrangement: This is a hybrid role with 2/3 days based at the Manchester or Aberdeen office with the option for dynamic working.

Role Requirements:
1. Degree qualified in chemical engineering.
2. 10 years or more experience coordinating multidiscipline teams in the various stages of the project life cycle on major contracts in the Energy Sector.
3. Deep knowledge and experience of a range of process technology and equipment appropriate to onshore and offshore oil and gas production and processing, CO2 capture, hydrogen production, fuel switching, and electrification.
4. Good knowledge of the major project delivery process from work winning to project handover.
5. Knowledge and understanding of UK technical regulatory standards and global best practice.
6. Extensive experience in delivering feasibility studies, selecting technologies, developing concept design, and evaluating options.
