The Professional Support and Wellbeing (PSW) Team operates across the Midlands, dedicated to supporting resident doctors and dentists in training. Our primary focus is providing personalised, one-on-one support tailored to the specific needs of these professionals.
The Coordinator role is part of the Training and Education sub-directorate of WT&E in the Midlands. This sub-directorate is responsible for effectively planning and delivering education and training.
Our team is committed to helping residents advance their training and providing solution-focused interventions for those facing challenges. This role will serve as the first point of contact for the operational delivery of Professional Support and Wellbeing services to support medical and dental trainees, offering information, advice, and guidance on a wide range of educational, health, and wellbeing opportunities.
We are seeking individuals with exceptional leadership, management, and organisational skills, who excel in relationship management, and possess a keen eye for detail. The ability to analyse and report data to meet KPI’s is essential.

• Facilitate and conduct meetings with resident doctors and dentists to assess the level and nature of training challenges, often in emotional and occasionally distressing situations. Collaborate with manager and clinical lead to develop a strategic path forward.
• Identify and investigate the root causes of concerns and assess the urgency of required interventions.
• Analyse information in collaboration with the manager and clinical lead and the available support options to create a personalised support plan.
• Contribute to the ongoing design and development of services to effectively enhance the service delivery.
• Utilise developed empathetic skills to interpret complex information in challenging and emotional circumstances related to performance improvement.
• Maintain high standards of own performance and behaviour, setting an example for others. Provide guidance and support to your team and work collaboratively across the broader team to ensure business objectives are met, including providing coverage, as necessary.
• Exhibit excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and confidently build and maintain strong working relationships within the team and with stakeholders. Be solutions-focused, manage your time effectively, and lead and inspire those around you to achieve outstanding results.

The post will be the first point of contact for the operational delivery of the Professional Support and Wellbeing services to support medical and dental trainees. Provides information, advice, and guidance on a wide range of educational, health and wellbeing opportunities.
The postholder will:
• To be responsible for overseeing the confidential counselling service to trainees as needed, providing a responsive service.
• To provide regular audit information to the regional and national managers regarding numbers supported and types of issues.
• To present service information at regional team meetings and communicate developments in wellbeing management.
• To be involved in promoting wellbeing service as part of project awareness events
• To liaise with clinical lead for PSW on a regular basis
• To be responsible for advice and support to local teams on wellbeing management.
• To have thorough knowledge of the Mental Health provision both locally and nationally
• To contribute to the safeguarding and promotion of personal care of trainees
• To provide educational sessions to trainees specifically around professional health and wellbeing services
• Plan, co-ordinate, deliver and monitor a programme of support to individual trainees ensuring if required additional support services are informed.
• Work alongside and deputise for the Manager carrying out duties in their absence.
• Will take on individual case load offering front line mental health first aid.
• Create and co-ordinate Individual support packages enabling trainees where possible to continue with their programme.
• Highlight where issues concerning the welfare of the trainees or integrity of the placement are at risk.
