About the Role:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Adults Social Worker to work part-time based in Bristol. The role involves providing professional social work support to adults with care and support needs and their carers, ensuring they receive person-centred, strengths-based support in line with statutory requirements.
The successful candidate will undertake assessments, risk management, and care planning while working closely with health and social care colleagues, community organisations, and other professionals. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and experienced social worker looking for a flexible, part-time role that makes a real difference in people’s lives.
Key Responsibilities:
* Carry out statutory duties under the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Mental Health Act 2008.
* Undertake assessments of adults and their carers, identifying needs, risks, and personal budgets.
* Develop, review, and implement support plans, ensuring services remain person-centred and outcome-focused.
* Ensure people are supported to make their own decisions, promoting choice and control in how they receive care.
* Work autonomously to manage a caseload, prioritising work within eligibility criteria and resource availability.
* Undertake risk assessments and take responsibility for actions in situations where a person’s safety or liberty is at risk.
* Apply safeguarding policies and procedures to protect adults at risk of abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
* Ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act 1998, GDPR, and information-sharing protocols.
* Work collaboratively with health, community, and voluntary sector partners to integrate support services.
* Provide advice and supervision to other social care practitioners and contribute to the development of best practice.
* Support the training and supervision of student social workers.
* Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, policy frameworks, and best practices.
* Apply advanced knowledge of safeguarding, mental capacity, and positive risk-taking.
* Undertake additional duties, such as acting as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP), Best Interest Assessor (BIA), or Practice Assessor, as agreed.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
* Degree in Social Work (or equivalent) from a UK university.
* Registration with Social Work England.
* Post-qualifying experience in adult social care, mental capacity assessments, safeguarding, or integrated health and social care.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Mental Health Act 2008.
* Strong assessment, case management, and decision-making skills.
* Ability to work independently while contributing to a multi-agency team.
* Experience in providing advice, mentoring, and supervision to social care staff and students.
