As a C&I / Asset Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, installing, managing, and maintaining equipment used to monitor and control engineering systems, machinery, and processes across our paper mill facility.
The primary goal is to ensure that these systems and processes operate effectively, efficiently, and safely whilst staying up to date with the latest industry standards and best practices. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in managing and optimising the performance of our plant assets.

Complete/ follow risk assessments and work instructions Key Responsibilities:
Provide day-to-day technical support, including the installation and fault diagnosis of instrumentation, control equipment, and systems specific to paper mill operations. Ensure all instrumentation, control systems, and equipment are maintained in accordance
with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
Collaborate with operations personnel to plan and execute corrective maintenance of plant instruments, control systems, and equipment, with a focus on paper mill processes and safety requirements.
Design and develop new control systems tailored to paper mill operations, as well as test, maintain, and modify existing systems to ensure safety and efficiency.
Work collaboratively with process engineers, operations staff, purchasers, and other internal stakeholders to deliver projects on time and within budget constraints.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, quality standards, and environmental guidelines across all C&I and asset management activities.
Develop and maintain software, test procedures, and documentation relevant to the C&I and asset management functions within the paper mill industry.
Monitor plant instruments, control systems, and equipment performance, providing recommendations for addressing reliability issues specific to paper mill operations.
Implement and maintain asset management strategies, including asset lifecycle management, risk assessments, and asset performance monitoring.
Develop and execute asset maintenance and replacement plans to optimise asset performance, minimise downtime, and reduce overall maintenance costs.
Review and implement planned maintenance programmes to meet statutory, OEM, and industry-specific requirements for paper mills.
Audit the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS-MaintainX) to ensure maintenance history is accurate and up to date, focusing on paper mill-specific equipment and processes.
Coordinate third-party support to ensure contractual deliverables and statutory regulations are met, with a focus on the unique requirements of paper mill operations.
Stay updated on relevant statutory legislation, operational safety cases, asset verification schemes, and safety management systems specific to the paper mill industry.
Participate in the development and execution of OPEX and CAPEX budgeted activities and projects related to paper mill control and instrumentation and asset management. Skills and Experience
Essential
Proven experience in a control and instrumentation support function within the paper mill industry or similar manufacturing environments.
Experience in asset management, including lifecycle management, risk assessments, and performance monitoring.
In-depth knowledge of paper mill operations, processes, and safety requirements.
Familiarity with Advanced Process Control (APC), Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems commonly used in paper mills.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Self-motivated and enthusiastic when working independently or as part of a team.
Minimum of 5 years' experience
Educated to HNC.HND or equivalent standard in a relevant engineering discipline Desirable
Experience gained in paper or continuous process related industries
This role will follow a 12 hour shift pattern 4 on 4 off (6 - 6)
