At Santander we are looking for a Public Cloud Senior Operations Engineer (SRE Function) to play a crucial role in leading the identification and driving the implementation of improvements for our Public AWS Infrastructure, which our customers rely on daily.
The purpose of the role is to ensure the stability, availability, reliability and performance of our digital services and cloud shared platform infrastructure services. Communication and collaboration with all our internal stakeholders via regular reporting on the progress of workstreams, documentation and governance processes, is essential.
You will be accountable for the daily health of the public cloud environments, ensuring that all service KPI’s are being met and responding to related incidents as required.
The difference you’ll make:
1. Identifying, planning and implementing solutions to improve the reliability, resilience and efficiency of the public cloud environment by developing innovative and automated processes
2. Providing high level advice on technical solutions and priorities for the infrastructure function
3. Focussing on day-to-day operations, delivery of new services and solutions and capacity planning to ensure IT infrastructure meets the current and future requirements of the organisation
4. Ensuring the provision of full-service delivery, undertaking and supporting structure planning to ensure sufficient system capacity is made available
5. Resolving complex technical issues and provide senior technical solutions in response to queries from across the business as well as from within IT
6. Analysing technical specifications of systems infrastructure and communication platforms, in order to meet the needs of San UK
What you’ll bring:
7. Experienced and knowledgeable with all AWS services (EC, RDS, EKS, VPC, IAM, ALB’s etc.), must be similarly experienced with associated tools and platforms such as Terraform, Kubernetes etc
8. Engineering experience, with a proven track record of successfully managing site reliability innovations and pro-active solutions from concept through to production
9. Knowledge of IT incident management: ability to investigate, troubleshoot, recover and prevent the recurrence of incidents that interfere with the normal delivery of IT services
10. Experience with containerisation and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
11. Skills and experience in Change Control/Incident management of leading the recovery of infrastructure outages
12. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
It would also be nice for you to have:
13. Understanding of API orchestration, combined with languages such as Python to implement automated solutions and interactions between core management services such as Dynatrace, AWS, Servicenow etc
14. Experience in software development and/or system administration, with a focus on reliability, availability, and scalability
15. Extensive focus on design and delivery, taking complex problems and delivering well documented and tested solutions to those problems
16. Knowledge of DevOps tooling and methodologies including code repositories, bug tracking tools, Confluence, JIRA etc
