We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Band 7 Occupational Therapist to join our Child and Young Persons Mental Health Services (CYPMHS) 0-18 team. This exciting opportunity involves working with children and young people experiencing a range of mental health difficulties and providing specialist occupational therapy interventions as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

* Essential qualifications: Degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy with current HCPC registration.
* Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to engage young people and families effectively. Expertise in delivering a range of therapeutic interventions.
* Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise and mentor junior staff.
* Commitment: Passion for working with children and young people in mental health and a commitment to person-centred, compassionate care.

Main Duties:
* Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team to support service users in achieving their therapeutic goals & enhancing their independence in daily activities.
* Deliver comprehensive assessments, treatment, & management plans focusing on functional & sensory needs for children & young people with complex mental health conditions.
* Conduct interventions that promote skill development in areas such as self-care, school participation, & social integration, enabling young people to manage the impact of their mental health on daily functioning.
* Actively participate in care planning, offering expert advice on adaptations & strategies to support recovery & promote resilience.
* Offer training, advice, & consultation to colleagues, families & external agencies on the role of occupational therapy in mental health, helping to build capacity & enhance outcomes for young people.
* Contribute to the development & pathways of the wider occupational therapy service within CYPMHS.
* Contribute to service development & innovation, ensuring that the occupational therapy service is evidence-based, cost-effective & aligned with best practices and CYPMHS guidelines.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Diploma or BSc in Occupational Therapy
* Registration with Health and Care Professions Council
* Significant post-graduate training and experience equivalent to MSc level qualification / or MSc in subject area relevant to post
* Experience in Practice Placement Education
* Membership of the professional body
* Level 2 or Level 3 training in Sensory Integration
* QI training
Knowledge and Expertise
* Advanced clinical knowledge and expertise relevant to the specialty including complex mental health, neurodevelopmental and physical health conditions impacting young people
* Advanced knowledge and application of current best practice in Occupational Therapy
* Knowledge and application of sensory processes
* Working knowledge of clinical governance and clinical audit/research
* Able to recognise and manage complex risk
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including skills in presentation and training
* Clear understanding of current legislation and guidance affecting Health and Social Services and its implications for occupational therapy and this client group
* Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and assess priorities
* Advanced interpersonal, negotiation and organisational skills, with individuals and groups
