Are you an experienced Paediatric Critical Care Nurse seeking a new challenge? There is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and motivated nurse to join our Paediatric Critical Care Team as a PNA lead.
We are a 14 bedded Paediatric Critical Care Unit comprising of 8 Paediatric Intensive Care beds and 6 Paediatric High Dependency beds. We care for babies, children and young people under a wide range of specialities and work closely alongside the Children’s Medical Emergency Transport (CoMET) service for the East Midlands region. We are supported by the Paediatric Critical Care Education Team and working alongside Nottingham University, providing learning opportunities for postgraduate nurses.
This is a new established role within the PCCU team. This is a fantastic opportunity formalise and embed the PNA process into the PCCU clinical team.
The role and impact will be analysed via local data collection and will form part of the Matron's monthly performance report.
You must be an RSCN or RN Child qualified nurse with substantial experience of working in a Paediatric Critical Care environment. You must hold a recognised Critical Care qualification and Mentors and Assessors qualification. You will need to have the PNA qualification. You will be expected to maintain clinical credibility by working one clinical (11.5 or 2 x short shifts) per month. The clinical element of the role will be to work within your own scope of professional competence.
You must have evidence of well developed leadership, clinical expertise, staff management and time management skills and evidence of being able to lead a team during challenging and complex circumstances.

Improvement) approach to support all paediatric critical care staff to improve system performance and the experiences of staff and patients.

The post holder will be responsible for:
Delivery of a restorative practice service across PCCU within the trust, by providing regular Restorative clinical supervision, both 1:1 and group sessions.
Providing advice and support to staff at all levels by developing co-operative relationships with other experts/providers and speciality services responsible for staff health and wellbeing.
The role supports staff through continuous improvement process that builds personal and professional clinical leadership, improves the quality of care delivered and supports professional revalidation.
Lead and plan the for PNA vision for PCCU and work directly with all the staff on PCCU with a PNA qualification to ensure all the staff who are suitably trained have an opportunity to work within the PNA role.
Be an effective leader and role model and will be expected to provide regular direct clinical care and use experience to support the implementation of both clinical and non-clinical governance.

The role will also include PNA networking with the Children's Hospital, NUH and the wider Critical Care Community within NUH and across NHSE.
